Both the gospel readings talk about how one should pray to God. Both Gospels provide the exact wording each prayer should contain. Each passage states, “do not subject us to the final test” (Luke 11:4). Although each Gospel has a different wording about what a person should say about prayer, this phrase is a stated exactly the same in each recommendation. That leads to the question of what this final test is that both Luke and Matthew express in their Gospels. I would assume that this “final test” would be a person’s test of love and belief in God. For example, if a person were to pray to cure a loved one and God doesn’t fulfill the prayer, that person might not believe in God. In this event, the “final test” would be that person
