A Comparison of High Heels and Flats
Women are always searching for the right shoe. There are so many different styles, types, colors, and even heights. To me the two most common types are high heels and flats. Well, at least in today’s fashion those are the two most common. Both, if paired with the correct outfit are simply stunning. High heels offer a sexier look that’s nearly impossible to get from a flat shoe. Nevertheless, I feel very strongly about women in high heels. They make your legs look longer, butt look better, and they are sexier than flats. On the other hand, if you’re running around and being busy all day, nothing feels better than a cute pair of flats. Its time we hit the ground running as we explore the real

FFlats generally are comfortable however; if you, just like high heels, choose a pair that is the wrong size your feet are still going to hurt. Lucky you if you prefer flats, you just have to worry about the correct shoe size not the height of the heel. With both of these choices depending on what materials the sole is made out of also depends on the comfortableness. Both types of shoes do offer basically the same styles. In high heels you can get open toe, closed toe, strapy, sling back, round toe, almond toe, pointed toe, etc. Not only those have they come in boots and sandals, leather and cloth. Same goes for flat shoes. However, not both come with the same type of sole’s, high heels you can basically find in any type of sole from rubber to hard plastic, but they cannot come in cloth like flat shoes. This is because you need something sturdy for you to stand on and support your foot and weight, instead of having all the pressure on the ball of your foot. High heels can go with almost any outfit from comfortable and casual to classy and sexy. If you’re going out with your girl friends you can wear a higher heel. Heels also would go great if you were just wearing a pair jeans and cute top. Flats on the other hand go better when you’re just going out casual. But, flats don’t go to well with a cute dress or sexy outfit. You can work in a pair of flats in with a pencil skirt for a
In the novella, “The House on Mango Street,” by Sandra Cisneros, the symbol of shoes represents how attractive you are and how you are portrayed by society. For example, “It’s Rachel who learns to walk the best all strutted in those magic high heels. She teaches us to cross and uncross our legs, and to run like a double dutch rope, and how to walk down to the corner so that the shoes talk back to you.” (pg. 40). This quote shows how Esperanza and her friends want to act very mature and lady like, and how the shoes play a huge role in this.
Paulo Freire’s essay “the banking concept of education” and Richard Rodriguez’s essay “the achievement of desire” talk about the topic of education. Education is explored in many different ways. In Freire’s essay “the banking concept of education” he expresses his dislike of the education system and the distribution of power and authority in the class room. In his essay, he says that all the power belongs to the teacher. Richard Rodriguez’s essay “the achievement of desire” he states that the power belongs to the student. In many ways, these two influential writers are similar and at the same time have
As mentioned in the prompt, wearing heels accounts for 75% of orthopedic problems in the United States. Additionally, high-heeled
The Damn Heels case study is about a female business student form Ryerson University in Canada. She came up with the idea to turn heels into flat bottomed shoes. The reason behind this was to allow women to wears heels during the main events they were attending, and then when the events were over they could then transform the heels into heelless flat bottomed shoes. These shoes are planned on being issued at a lowered price point of $20 dollars compared to their
The first few times you see shoes mentioned is irrelevant, but once you get to the chapter “The Family of Little Feet,” shoes begin to take on a meaning. A woman came up to Esperanza and her friends Rachel and Lucy, offering a bag of shoes which were said to be “one pair of lemon shoes and one red and one pair of dancing shoes that used to be white but were now pale blue” (40). The girls were excited by the shoes, made clear by the line “Hurray! Today we are Cinderella because our feet fit exactly” (40). They even go as far to describe them as “magic high heels” (40) while they were learning to walk in them. Soon, however, this innocence and joy get tainted once the girls go walking in the shoes, first having Mr. Benny, the grocer, say, “Them are dangerous. You girls too young to be wearing shoes like that” (41). But this didn’t faze the girls, and they continued walking. They enjoyed the attention they were getting, Esperanza even saying, “these are the best shoes. We will never go back to wearing the other
It all started with a Jumpman and a swoosh, it was more than just a shoe it was the start of a culture. What most people look at as just a shoe to protect their feet has a story behind it and a deeper meaning to me and many others than “just a pair of shoes”. Don’t put on a pair of shoes unless you know how to wear them right. For every pair I own I could explain the troubles I went through and the people I met to get each sneaker. The best feeling was opening that fresh shoe box and taking out that paper wrapping. Putting on each new pair of sneakers is like taking a breath of fresh air each pair crisp as bacon. I am one among many sneakerheads, people who love to buy, sell, trade, and collect rare shoes. There is a culture, lifestyle, and history behind sneaker collecting. Most people would think dropping hundreds if not thousands on a pair of shoes is crazy but I believe sneakers are essential.
Flannery O’Connor’s “A Good Man is Hard to Find” and Alice Munro’s “Boys and Girls” both use symbols to highlight significant meanings in the characters’ lives. This essay will examine two differences and one similarity in the authors’ use of symbols:
It's only natural for a person to judge a sneaker by its appearance, instead of

Nothing labels you "frumpy" quite like scuffed shoes with worn down heels. Comfortable low-heeled black pumps with closed toes are top-notch. Don't give in to temptations to wear trendy high-heeled sandals. Your interviewer will think you are flighty, not professional.

Participating in basketball begins with picking which basketball shoes to wear. The purpose of a sports shoe is to improve performance or reduce the risk of injury (Fong, Hong & Li, 2007). While playing the game of basketball I’ve realized it is a sport that involves different types of shoes which help improve jumping, landing, cutting and much more. Basketball has its positives and negatives for every age group; it has good health benefits, but it also consists of moderate to high risk lower body injuries to the lower back, legs and ankles. There are different types of basketball shoes which consist of high tops, mid tops, low cuts, cushioned shoes, non-cushioned shoes, and other different combinations. The high tops basketball shoe will have a collar that goes above the ankle like a sleeve. The mid tops basketball shoe covers slightly above the ankle, but lower than high tops. The low cut basketball shoes don’t have a collar at all and they don’t cover the ankle. Shoes also vary by weight and outsole traction. Through my knowledge picking the shoe to wear is solely on your preference. Whatever shoe that you choose will have different advantages or disadvantages to them. The purpose of this literature review is to explore the variety of effects specific shoe types have on basketball athletes.
