The matter of gun control has become an increasingly controversial issue. Whenever, a nationalized tragedy ensues that involves gun violence, the question on what to accomplish regarding America’s gun control takes center stage. While exploring this topic, this essay will attempt to discuss the circumstances that prohibit a person from
More than 30 people are shot and murdered each day. Gun Control is becoming a huge problem in the U.S.. Numerous people have died due to terrorist and criminals who have guns. The rise of gun casualties has created a debate on whether or not you are allowed to own a gun. The amount of restrictions on owning a gun has recently made it hard to get a gun. If no one is able to have a gun, then people will not be able to protect themselves. There needs to be a limit on the amount of gun laws, however there needs to be stricter background checks so that criminals can not get guns easily.
Since the beginning of time humans have employed the use of weapons. These have been used as a tool to provide food, security and sometimes to cause harm or as a final resolution to conflict. The loss of life that sometimes involves the use of guns has prompted the Authorities to enact certain regulations that are generally known as gun control laws.
Gun Control Close your eyes and relax. Imagine that you are in a time of 236 years ago, and imagine that you are one of the few people that had the privilege of writing the country’s constitution. It would not take long until you get to the second amendment. This amendment reads “A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed” (Davis). This amendment has extreme importance, and should not be taken lightly. However, this amendment is not accepted like it used to be, and it is a big controversy in the United States today. Should the public be allowed to have weapons, or should the government take them
The United States is known for many things. We’re number one in Moon landings, number one in diversity, and number one in guns per 100 people. As a left-wing Democrat, I find this very concerning and dangerous, but many others feel differently about the topic of gun control, and more specifically, background checks. Most opposition to extensive background checks are Republicans, and this can be seen portrayed in traditional Republican values like safety, security, and family. Through the opposition of explicit restrictions to our Second Amendment right, gun control opposition enacts values like patriotism and nationalism with strong traditional American beliefs.
Those kinds of gun controls should be the bare minimum that the government does. Gun control laws should go even further, restricting gun ownership only to people who go through gun handling classes, extensive background checks, permits, and liability insurance. It should be harder to get a gun than it is to get a driver's licence. To get a driver's licence you have to go through a class, pass a written and driving test, and have proof of insurance.
Few topics can generate more of a divided opinion than gun control. In reviewing the following case study, “Case 8.4: Have Gun, Will Travel…to Work”, several important questions will be discussed involving moral and legal rights of both the employee and the employer. This case involves the dilemma of a company’s rights to protect its employee’s verses an individual’s right to bear arms. In 2002 several employees were terminated for violating company policy by keeping guns in their vehicles while at work. Although at the time there was no state or federal law prohibiting the company from dismissing an employee for having a gun in their vehicle, this action by Weyerhaeuser, a Seattle-based timber-producing company set in motion a legal
Why the government should not be involved in gun control. The second amendment to the United state 's constitution says "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." Is
Gun Control Do guns really kill people or are they just being blamed for it? This question come in to the minds of people whenever there is a shooting involved. For instances, when a 22 year old man went into sandy hook elementary school carrying firearms and tragically killing
We as a country have been caught up lately in the idea that we need to take away people 's guns in order to make people safer. Adolf Hitler once said, “To conquer a nation, first disarm its citizens (Quotes About).” Do I really need to explain where history
Gun control has been a heated conversation in America the last few years. Many of the recent mass shootings and tragedies has been the cause of such debate. Some people argue for tighter, stricter gun control laws while others will argue for less strict laws. Personally, I believe that there are other issues in the United States that need to be regulated and watched more carefully than gun violence. There are other causes of death with higher death tolls than gun violence that is being ignored. The spotlight needed to be shined on these other causes of deaths and not gun violence.
The topic of gun control is discussed frequently in the presidential debate recently. While it is a constitutional right to bear firearms for citizens to protect themselves, firearms can contribute to crimes and deaths. In my research paper, I hope to prove the effectiveness of gun control policies and thereby advocate for stricter gun control. During my research, I have found three secondary sources that present research findings about issues related to gun control. Specifically, one scholarly article deals with the public’s perception towards the effectiveness of gun policies. Another scholarly article presents a case study of New York gun control laws. The last article talks about the correlation and causation between gun control and gun crime rates. Through my analysis, I found that all three articles have a relatively strong credibility, and the two scholarly articles contain more plausible logic than the third article.
Although some people argue that there should be gun control in America, history and evidence proves that there should not be gun control in America. Many people claim that if there aren’t any guns, it keeps people more safe. They also claim that no guns would prevent mass shootings. First, guns do keep people safe. Second, guns don’t kill people. Lastly, having a gun isn’t a bad thing; it can be used as self-defense in times that it is

The modern debate concerning gun control became a popular subject after a number of high profile assassinations that occurred in the 60s. Even more gun violence in the 1980’s and 90’s also brought up more debate, proving the desperate need for stricter gun laws in the United States. In 1999,
