A Day At Oakleaf Junior High School

The alarm clock blared as six o 'clock struck. I groggily climbed out of bed to

begin what I thought was just another day at Oakleaf Junior High School. I followed my usual

routine which included brushing my teeth, taking a shower, and eating my bowl of

delicious Coco Puffs. I gathered my backpack and headed towards the door to begin my

long trek to school when all of a sudden my parents exclaimed, " B, you don 't have to go

to school today. We 're going on vacation!" I looked at them with disbelief as she hastily

ushered me out the front door into the already prepared Toyota Highlander. Next thing I

know, I was headed out of Oakleaf to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, with my family for

another action-packed vacation.

The monotony of the open road and endless treescape was not nearly as

unpleasant as I predicted. The ever flowing and diverse conversation with my family

piqued my interest. Whether it was about our day-to-day lives or adventures with our

friends, the exchanges were always pleasurable. When the conversing subsided, I was

able to take in the breathtaking scenery. Fluorescent trees and vibrant shrubbery that

seemed to be basking in the mid­day sunlight engulfed my vision. While I was peering at a

grand Weeping Willow, a very friendly truck driver gleefully waved at me as I was gazing

into his vicinity. I motioned for him to honk his horn, to which he playfully complied. His
