In the short story “A Good Man Is Hard to Find,” O’Connor explores a variety of themes. One of those themes, and the one that will be discussed, is the classic “good versus evil”. We are introduced to the character, Grandmother, who has an apparent sense of good, basing it on manners and coming from a family of “good” people. We are also introduced to The Misfit, who is a wanted criminal “aloose from the Federal Pen” (926), a man who is pure evil. In the end, will good or evil prevail. The story begins with a seemingly normal family preparing for a trip to Florida.
