Travis stared at the chaotic scene surrounding him. It was mayhem in the cafeteria of the prison, mayhem that he couldn’t control. Prisoners were fighting prison guards, fighting other prisoners, smashing the walls, spreading unknown fluids on the walls, and doing other unspeakable things that he couldn’t process in his chaotic brain. I never meant for it to be like this, I just wanted to be with my daughter, he thought. He looked over to his right and saw a group of prisoners screaming at him, begging him to run towards them to complete the plan. Running to them meant freedom, but before he could move a muscle, he heard someone in the distance screaming his name. Closing his eyes and covering his ears would’ve been a good fantasy, but confronting
" The biggest adventure you can take is to live the life of your dreams."- Oprah Winfrey. This quote meant a lot to a 13 year old youngster named Jared, who lived in the most impoverished town within Cambodia. To be quite specific, Jared resided in an old, rusty village, during the year of 2001, that he'd been living in since birth. His greatest aspiration in life was to become a geneticist. However, he did have a few roadblocks, such as poverty, and zero education. Whenever unoccupied, he strived to pay his Grandma Seda a visit at her senior citizen home, which was funded through the Cambodian government. Speaking of her, Grandma Seda was 96 year old lady and happened to be the grandmother of Jared. She was located at a senior citizen home 20 miles away from Jared's home. Six months ago she was diagnosed with leukemia and slow organ failure. Since her diagnosing, her health has been deteriorating rapidly.

William Penn served jail time but was released due to wealth. Later in life he was given the opportunity to propose laws & he used this moment to fix how inmates are treated. He was against harsh punishment.
Looking at the finished product I turned in for Essay 1, I don’t think I deserved a 100%. As I read my essay I found nothing but mistakes and points left out. I then went back and read the first draft of that essay and man is there is difference. As I was reading my original essay I found out that I was inserting facts into sentences. That’s not bad but no the goal. The goal is to create a story about your hero’s journey and relate it to you. Mine was not that. Looking back on workshops and feedback I saw how much my paper had changed and how I raised my bar. I took sentences I had written and moved, created, and formed an essay that was different and better then the first draft; by creating a story. Now using all the knowledge, I have learned throughout the semester, I can use it revise my essay one
After reading a Death in Texas, yes, Jonathan Nobles was rehabilitated while he was behind bars. He should have been put on life in prison instead of death in the end. Mostly everyone that is inside the Prison being guards or inmates believe Jonathan Nobles was a different man than the one that first walked past the doors that led him into the prison. He was a good, decent man of society now and helped a lot of people during his time in prison.
“Jailen is the best player in the nation now bringing new basketball to the game”. “Yeah playing just like his brother used to….maybe even better”. “Jailen had some hard times with his Mom, Dad, and Brother dying all in the same night” “ the game is on the Line 5….4….3….2….1….”.
“Over here!” Lori called to her friend, Kayla as she was trudging below the blazing hot Arizona sun. After looking up and seeing Lori, Kayla shouted “Coming!” while jogging happily to greet her best friend. Both girls were looking forward to this get together because they were planning on hiking a new trail through the beautiful desert mountains. “I am so excited!” Kayla exclaimed once Lori caught up to Kayla. Carrying small filled bags with a couple granola bars, water, a hat, a couple of bandages and some sunscreen, you could see the anticipation in their eyes for this fun adventure! Although they didn’t do much research on this trail, they were thrilled for the trip ahead.
My heart wasn’t with him and it had been this way since the moment he brought me home to his apartment above the garage the day we were wed. I had at this point given up fighting to free myself and sunk deep into my thoughts. Upon remembering the day we met I could recall almost every detail about him; from the twinkle in his eyes to the gleam of his golden watch. There was a gleam of hope which I saw when I looked at him much unlike the strain and exhaustion I see as he lurks in the grey shadows of the garage. Though I detested this awful place, it was not New York I longed to adventure away from, it was him. Him and his oh-so ordinary ways. I wished to live a life of the extravagant and the bold, a life with Tom, a life that was not
Make up an idea of what a hero should be like, Are you done? Good. Now put that hero that you just made up and send him on a unforgetable journey. Make your hero go through unexpected battles and have him lose at least one important thing in his life. Next make up a story with a happy ending or a bad ending whichever one you desire. I asked these questions because you just made a hero's journey.
Shortly after the discovery that my beloved wife had gone missing, I began to retrace my steps in search of her. I believe I must have lost her in the process of cycling up the hill; however, I cannot seem to make out which path I had come from.
Months later she told me what actually went through her mind that day. She told me how her legs began to shake when she discovered who it was. She was an equestrian as well and had seen her share of accidents at horse shows. When she first heard the news, she thought it was someone else; then she learned it was her best friend.
Cal walked through a trail in the woods during the last gasps of dying summer. Browning ferns brushed against his jeans while he paced. The trail was overgrown and undefined, and Cal stomped through sticks and tree branches to make his way through. He emerged through the thicket into a clearing for a power line route. He saw the old derelict boat, his family’s boat, nested in its 30 year resting place. He walked up to it and put his hands on the giant steering wheel and looked down at the undergrowth of plants at its base. Traditionally, the end of august was prime huckleberry season. And the base of the old boat was traditional grounds for some sizeable huckleberry bushes. When he was younger, Cal, his sister and cousin would bring buckets
Moreover the jail will hire people who are wanted in other states, and pass them fully and not even look into their backgrounds enough to know. This happened with one male CO which was wanted by the police in Kentucky, because of the disappearance of a girlfriend. The one thing I'm trying to get across is, this jail has a very biased system it using for hiring. Sadly by posting this they will more than likely questions my father and sister. Then have both of them, tell me not to post anything about the jail. Because if your family works there you magically lose all first ammendment rights, which I thought we still had in America. The sad but true thing in any job is knowing names, my dad threw out my sisters and got the job. My mother
According to Stevenson wrote, “Today we have the highest rate of incarceration in the world.” (15). In the United States, one of the primary goals of the prison system is to rehabilitate prisoners that they will not commit again. Unfortunately, some individuals will be back to their life of crime for some reasons. Lack of support, lack of relationships, and inability to obtain employment are the essential causes of recidivism today.
Lovelace wrote the poem To Althea From Prison, the first time he was imprisoned for presenting the House of Commons with a pro-royalist petition. In this piece of literature, the similes, metaphors and personification help the reader understand Lovelace’s craving and desire for freedom. Althea is the center of his desires in this work, he loves her, and she is the reason that he craves freedom.
Prisons have many policies set in place to help aid inmates’ with adjusting to prison life. No matter what policies are set in place to help aid inmates they will always have a hard time especially for first timers. According to Frank Schmalleger and John Ortiz Smykla (2009) new inmates face major problems because of the loss of liberty, lack of material possessions, the depravation of materials and services, the lack of heterosexual relationships, and feeling unsecured. I think that inmates can be helped with the adjustment process by initiating and enforcing a program to deal with such issues. I think I would eliminate policies that are designed to make prison life unpleasant and concentrate more on policies that help inmates progress in their educational and rehabilitation programs. One policy that is very important to inmates is to feel safe in their prison environment. As a result there have been many debates on the rights of the inmates. I think the most important policy I would enforce is educational programs that will
