“I’m different because everyone else is not me.” This as written by Julian Aguilar, a famous screenwriter for Hollywood films. It was my first day at a real school, preschool doesn’t count, and I was starting first grade, since I skipped kindergarten. It wasn’t always easy being the youngest in your entire grade, and sometimes, the whole school, but I made it through and even got into GATE. That’s what this story is all about. “Are you ready for your first day of school?” my mom asked me. “I sure am!” I said. She asks me if I’m excited and I told her how enthusiastic and anxious I was. When she drives me to my new school, I got more and more pumped. I can hardly wait! As uneasy as I was, though, I was also honored to be the only five year old in first grade. “We’re here!” my mom exclaimed as she pulled into a parking lot. There was a sign that said: Ladera Elementary School. “Awesome! I’m not in preschool anymore, I’m an older girl!” I exclaimed. “That’s right pumpkin,” my mom gave me a huge bear-hug. “Now, let’s go meet the principal, shall we?” We went into the office and met the principal, then, the principal , introduced me to my teacher, Mrs. Scott, and some new friends, Cassandra, Skylar, MacKenzie, and Madison. During the time we were in the office, my mom had signed a form that I didn’t really pay attention to it, but a few weeks later, she drove me to a place that isn’t school, and I got really worried. “Mom, where are you taking me?” She said that she was going
Jake was a freshman, having just enrolled at the local community college. He was for the most part a good kid, except that he had hung around with the wrong crowd, and this had made him the unfortunate victim of circumstance.
It's the classic high school trope, everyone knows it. Clearly defined groups of people separated by their hobbies, appearances, and other insignificant details that determine your friends and level of popularity. Supposedly at the top of the popularity scale are the football players and the cheerleaders juxtaposed to the nerds, who are at the opposite side of high school’s social order. In the realm of nerdiness, robotics about the nerdiest activity a student could decide to do. According to the laws of almost every movie about high school, these groups must not mix. What would happen to the person who was both the cheerleader and a member of the robotics club? Is it possible to exist on both extremes of the social order? We are all more than
There is a school in Rhode Island called Opequonsett High. It is full of jocks, mean girls, and popular kids. Hidden deep inside of the crowd are what you might call the outfitters. Vice Principal Mr. Brenigan wants anything BUT outfitters! The kids who did not fit in were usually the ones who got into trouble. Stella got in trouble for wearing an inappropriate shirt. Wen got in trouble for using bad words in class and Mo got in trouble for skipping class and behaving badly. They all got in big trouble for what they did. While they were in detention, a catchy song started playing. Wen started tapping his foot to the beat, then Stella started tapping on the desk. Finally Mo began humming along. They sounded
A stranger in the village is someone that is new to a place or isn’t familiar with something. Approximately two years ago I moved, which meant I had to move schools too. I was 15 years when I moved to McEachern High School but it made me be a more independent person.
It was a year after the fight. Everything had returned to normal at Trinity High School. Everything was going good for Jerry, except for he didn’t play football this year because of his teammates targeting him last season.
A typical Friday in Mr. Ventos second hour math class at North Shore Middle School is anything but typical. You start out by being greeted by Mr. Vento as you walk into his room. You sit down at your desk and notice the entertaining posters on the walls and many bobble heads above Mr. Ventos desk. Then you start your warm ups. Usually half the class is working while the others talk. The last person to perambulate into the room is always Sergio Osuna, An eighth grade student at North Shore Middle School. You now Sergio is close by because whenever Mr. Vento sees Sergio he vociferates “SERGIOOOOOOOOOO!”. Now that everyone is in the classroom the real work begins.
The sun appeared over the horizon, painting the sky in countless warm golden shades. The rising sun brought with it the awakening of the people and the city started to slowly emerge from its nightly hibernation as the roads filled with vehicles that seemed to roar in the crisp morning air, As the workplaces slowly filled the noise of the roads died down as people started to go about their daily routine content with the habitual life that they continued to live. This would not stay true for the students of Steele high school for much longer.
Well, there once was a time, after the graduation of the class of 2019 from the school of Rivercrest High School. Three people had an unwelcoming time after leaving the school. They all didn’t know each other but they had interacted together. These are their stories and how they changed forever.
"Then comes baby in a baby carriage" was all Rafael could think about when he sees Sonny push a carriage with various bags attached to it into his apartment. What on earth was he involuntarily being roped into? Babysitting and on the one day he wasn't busy with multiple cases or tutoring his boyfriend.
If you knew anything about Penelope Wood you wouldn’t expect her to be lying dead on the cold cement just meters away from the last incident, and yes this isn’t the first time someone has “committed suicide” at Middle Park High. I find it absurd that anyone would ever think she would purposely climb to the top of the science block and jump, like what makes those stupid cops think it was a suicide? Not to mention only the teachers had keys to the stairs after what Thomas did. Something like this would never have crossed her mind and I most definitely know this because she was my friend, not just because she was the only one who stuck by when everyone else harassed me after my Mother made me cut my hair like a boy but because we were almost the
Caleb Logan walks into High Field High School’s grand hall entrance and looks around him. There are students sitting on benches talking and laughing and students sitting at tables noses buried deep in textbooks, books, and homework. Some students looked like the cool kids in leather jackets and hair all done. He quickly scanned the crowd again looking for his best friends Lilliana and Sebastian. Caleb’s eyes lingered on a boy in the crowd of cool kids and saw him coughing and hacking. His eyes lingered a little longer, then he went off to find Sebastian and Lilliana.
I recently had the opportunity to visit a 15 year old Searcy High School student, Erin Mcguirt, as well as her mom and dad Becky and Allen McGuirt. Erin is the youngest of three. She has a sister, Samantha, who is 23 years old. Erin said she wonders if Samantha has ever forgiven her for all the pranks she played on her. I couldn't let the word, "pranks" just slide by without inquiring about a few details. We all laughed as Erin told us about putting fish good, shaving cream, and things she got on vacation, under Samantha's mattress. Who doesn't love a great prank, especially if they aren't the recepiant?!
It was a normal morning, still laying down in the warm embrace of my down comforter. I set my daily alarm to go off at 5:50 a.m., and after about 5 clicks of the snooze button, I muster up the courage to emerge from the sheets like a kodiak leaving hibernation.
It was early in the morning and my mom called me down for breakfast “Ben come down for breakfast” she said. I can downstairs to another command “Ben g\o get napkins from the basement” “do I have to” I said then my mom gave me the just do it look which means you should really do it or i'll be mad . When i got in the basement I thought to myself I can’t reach the napkins now can so for some reason i decided to try to get them from on top of a old creaky wood stool. I took a step and almost slipped already due to the dust but i still kept going.
