Inspiration Beyond the Court
In the winter of 1891 the greatest sport in history was invented. Basketball has been a part of our culture ever since then. Player from the game have been inspiring people since. Three major figures in basketball include Larry Bird, Paul George and Michael Jordan. Michael Jordan, Paul George and Larry Bird are inspiring because they help the needy, they leave lasting legacies, and they push through the pain.
Larry Bird was born on December 7, 1956 in West Baden, Indiana (Barnes). Bird began his basketball career in 1971 at Springs Valley High School (Barnes). Larry Bird had a very successful career while he played he continued to be very successful even after he was done playing basketball. He is known as one of the best players to play the game behind Michael Jordan. He entered the NBA in 1979 for the Boston Celtics. He retired from the game in 1992 and became the Indiana’s Pacers coach in 1997 (Barnes). He currently is the owner of the Indiana Pacers.
Paul George was born on May 2, 1990 in Palmdale, California (Gale). George played basketball in high school and by his senior year his average points were twenty three points (Gale). George went on playing very good basketball in college. Then George was drafted into the NBA in 2011 for the Indiana Pacers (Gale).
