INTERVIEW PROJECT INDIANA UNIVERSITY-PURDUE UNIVERSITY FORT WAYNE HSRV 10000 LINDSEY A MARQUARDT MARCH 13, 2015 INTRODUCTION I used to work for Fort Wayne Community Schools as an assistant teacher for an elementary school. I know there are several Human Services Professionals who are riddled throughout the various facilities in our area. I was able to secure an interview with the school counselor at Towles Montessori/New Tech Middle School. The school counselor’s name is Joyce Paige. She has been in the school system for the past 20 years and seen many different changes within the Family and Marriage therapy. I was interested in the many things we discussed and a few of the suggested questions led me to ask some questions of my own. The interview occurred at 8:30 am in the Main Office of Towles Montessori. It began with discussing the education needed to obtain a certification or license as an Educational Counselor. As it turns out, an individual does not need to major in psychology during their undergraduate; however, one does need to complete a Master’s Degree in the Sciences in whatever area of expertise the individual wants to focus on within their future career. In her case, she obtained a Master’s Degree in Educational Counseling. During her time in the Master’s Program, the courses that really made an impact were family and marriage and roughly 300 hours of clinical.
