A Interview Project At The Westin Resort At Cape Reefs With Remy Parys And Discuss Topics Regarding The Hospitality

For my interview project, I headed to the Westin Resort in Cape Coral to sit down with Remy Parys and discuss topics regarding the hospitality industry. Mr. Parys is the front desk manager at the Westin and was very knowledgeable about each aspect in the hotel business. This did not come as a surprise after he informed me he had been in the hospitality field for over 20 years; 9 years of that time was spent specifically in the hotel and lodging specialty. At one point in time, he also owned his own company pertaining to vacation rentals. He gave me a superb insight on how the hotel business is operated and then added some of his personal tips and advice.
When I asked ‘why did you choose this type of business?’ he summarized it by saying it was his passion. He then elaborated by stating ‘There is never a boring day; each new day is fresh. It’s always challenging and I continue to grow daily in my career and as an individual.’ That particular statement reassured me that hotel management is the very career I want to continue to pursue due to the unexpected events that could possibly arise; the good and the bad. A routine job has never really appealed to me.
I questioned Remy is he was satisfied with the type of business he was in and his response was ‘With my employer? Yes. With social media becoming more advanced? No.’ I then asked him to further explain his reasoning behind that peculiar statement. He proclaimed that social media is becoming so advance and easily available
