As a new young retired military vet, I often find myself thinking about my past. I sit and ponder my activities and my failures. Thankfully, my accomplishments outweigh my fiascos. Though, there are a few that shaped me into who I am today, specific events that foreshadow greatly on my future. Many being recycled, so I remember almost every detail down to smell. Considerabl one major turning point in my life is when, I was given the opportunity to go to the Tim Horton Children’s Foundation Camp Parry Sound located in Parry Sound, Ontario and doing the wilderness program for the second time. I still gained a high school diploma not a GED, because it was part of the local high school. Luckily, the school was very convenient, since it was located down the road from my home. Once I entered the school, I checked to make sure school would be out by the time I left for camp. Happy to find we got out of school the week before, I sat in class ecstatic about the upcoming events. A few months pass and it is now June. It was my last night of work before leaving, so I did overtime at work. Drained and once home, I went over all the things I would need while gone. Everything seemed to be in order, so I turned out my light and went to bed. “Wake up Boo, you need to get in the shower and finish a few things before you leave, gripped my mom. I groggily rolled out of bed, got in the shower and loaded my suitcase in the Jeep. Our drive was silent. Mom always hated dropping me off at the airport. She felt as if she would never see me again. At the departure terminal, I said my good-byes and made haste to the security check. Once threw security I waited around until my boarding time. I was headed to Detroit, Michigan.
