All week my parents have been hinting a trip this weekend. It was Friday night and I was laying wide awake in my bed, staring at my white ceiling. It was 2 am and my mind was racing and excitement ran through my veins. Unfortunately, my parents are constantly working, so they never really take me places. I had turned thirteen last week and this was my birthday present. Could it be an amusement park? I really love roller coasters. Or maybe an arcade? Playing video games is my favorite thing to do. My mind began thinking of anything and everything until I eventually drifted into a buoyant slumber. The second my alarm for 9 am went off, I was up and out of bed.
“Ben?” My mom called out from behind my door.
“Already up!” I exclaimed with adrenaline, heading to the bathroom to start the mysterious, but thrilling day ahead of me. About forty minutes later, my mom, my dad, my bulldog, Buster, and I were in our minivan heading to the confidential destination. On the way there, I tried begging my parents to let me in on where we were going, but they wouldn’t budge. They said we had to wait until we got there and it was a two hour drive! I took a nap because of the exhaustion I was feeling due staying up late. But when I woke up, the smell of salt water quickly filled my nose. I knew where we were. The beach. That enthusiasm and blithe feeling were flushed out of my system immediately. I loathe the beach with a passion. The sand, the water, the smell. All of it. Ignominious and transfixing memories rushed back to me like a ferocious tsunami. The beach and I don’t mix and never have. It’s like putting a polar bear on a tropical island. The two don’t match.
Not long after, we parked and exited the car. I wasn’t even wearing the right attire for the beach. I had on blue jeans, a red shirt, and a zip up gray jacket.
“Dad, why are we here? You guys know I don’t like the beach.”
“Ben, we both think it’s time you get over your fear. You’ll thank us later.” My dad replied in an educated tone. About half an hour passed and I was having a detestable time. My mom was tanning and my dad was playing fetch with Buster. So, I decided I should take another nap on my beach towel. But all of a sudden, I wasn't tired anymore. Mom and
The sky was always blue holding sunshine rays in her world. Her name was Rosaline Deponte, my great-grandma. The continuous smile that she showed on her face reminded us how precious life is and to not take things for granted. Cold wood floors that could easily freeze toes, single-walled construction, shut rows of jalousie windows, and the smell of warm sweet bread on the counter 24/7, that was Rosaline’s house.
“Me too, oh my gosh I have been waiting for like 8 months ever since the trailer came out,” replies Lauren.
As I rolled out of bed, drenched in sweat from the hot, sticky, humid air. As I got ready for the day I began to feel excited because, today was the day we would spend at the beach. Playing and splashing in the water riding the waves, riding our boogie boards. Oh yes today was going to be fun! As I put on my swim suit I smelt the lingering smell of the oceans salty water from the previous time we had gone to the beach. It reminded me of how much fun I had, had and made me even more exited.
It was a normal winter morning. I woke up freezing my butt off. The night before we
Despite the fact that there is usually the typical Southern California weather, it was a chilly night out on the beach in July. I kicked up sand behind me not caring about anything. I had decided to stay behind after the bonfire we threw for Xander's birthday. My best pal, Jake was the designated driver this night and had to haul home drunk guys. Instead of hitching a ride, I decided to take a walk by myself along the waves. It was a calming time for me to collect my thoughts before senior year of high school started. I was doing my best to absorb the atmosphere around me. The sounds of the tides rising, the waves washing the sand off my feet, and the wind nipping at my red flannel. I was thinking about how I should bring Max ,my dog, here
The beach chairs around me wait slowly to get filled up. Rubbing on the wonderful tanning oil that smells like the coffee beans my mom uses in the mornings for her coffee. There is sand everywhere, in my toes, on the towels, and on my skin. I run into the water to rinse off, as I get the water gets in my mouth, and it's almost as if i took a tall glass of water and added a jar full of seas salt to the water. I get back out of the water and the sand on the bottom of my feet feels like with every step I take the sand is moulding my foot. I get back to my beach chair and lay back down. The sun is out and beating on me like I am in a tanning bed with the lights, and the lights are just on me. The sky was so blue its almost as if someone had painted
Dear Diary, It is so nice here. I'm at the beach. I went with my cousin Tracie. We haven't seen each other in a million trillion zillion years! Anyway, everyone was looking at me. I don't even know what I was doing! Aunt Claire drove me in her car. She dropped Tracie and me off at the entrance. Before, we left, Claire and Tracie gave me some looks as I came down the stairs and showed them my bathing suit. I don't know why everyone is so confused about my bathing suit. Anyway, when I got to the beach, I walked with my wicker basket to the little changing room. The day was so beautiful. The sun was shining, the birds were chirping, and there was a nice breeze. The breeze wasn't too strong, thankfully. Last time I went to the beach, the wind was
It was a gorgeous warm summer day in Lake Havasu, Arizona. I watch the watch the waves move, as i sat in my water front hotel room. Today was the day that I had been waiting for, I finally was going jetskiing. I was so excited. I knew that today was going to be wonderful. I was all ready to go; the only problem was that my parents were asleep. I anxiously waited for my parents to wake up. As my parents woke up , my mom started feeling sick and she decided to stay at the hotel.
Finally!, We got at the beach. I said ,”Yes we are here, I can’t wait till we got in the sand,” My mom said,”neither can I”.Then we arrived at our beach house. Next, we unloaded are luggage and beach gear. My dad said,”This is nice said,” Yea it is very nice.”I paraded up to my bedroom and it had a bathroom,a flat screen tv, a fooseball table and two futons. I said,”This is thrilling!” So we ordered some seafood. It was around 7:30 p.m. and we finished eating .
My worst birthday was this year. I went to a Twins game with my dad, stepmom, and sisters, Olivia (who is 15) and Natalie (who is 6.) The game wasn’t the bad part, I actually had a lot of fun. Well… that’s after this happened.
Morgan was home from college on fall break, and Ben was still a junior in high school. I found out the hard way that Ben wasn’t a morning person, and he hadn’t been one since kindergarten. It was a bear to get him out of bed, and I had to leave for work before he got up, so I went up the stairs and into his room. He was facedown in his pillow, mumbling slightly. I shook his shoulder. He turned his head and opened a bleary hazel eye. He had the same eye and hair color as I did, but he was his mother over again in a teenage male form. “Hmm…” he mumbled.
It was a beautiful day to try something new at Doheny State Beach in Dana Point, California. It was a long year in fourth grade, and my family and I were excited to start our summer vacation. As we pulled our trailer on the southbound I-5 freeway towards San Diego, I could see the temperature gauge on my father’s truck slowly dropping to the mid 70’s. We were in a packed car with my father, mother, older brother, younger sister, snacks and drinks everywhere, and me, entranced by the game on my brand new iPod that I recently received on my birthday. I had gone on camping trips my whole life so I was thrilled to go to a new beach and campground, but I was bewildered when we pulled into a Costco parking lot. I asked my father, “Why are we at

The year of 2014 was the only year I didn't get to blow out birthday candles.
On Monday morning at 6:00am, I rose from a deep sleep ready to get the day started. Getting up I get dressed, eat breakfast, and head for the bus. At school everything is normal and calm, my friends keep asking me what I want for my birthday, which is Friday. I told them all I want is to stay home, sleep, and eat some candy. At the end of the day I get on the bus and head home. I got home around 4:00 pm, I got into the house headed upstairs to get comfortable and to use the bathroom. I went downstairs to get a snack and I see a letter on the counter, with my name on it. I take the letter with me upstairs with my snack. While eating my snack, I open up the letter and it states “ your sharp, aching death is upon you”. All I feel is an
