Stephen King, a famous writer, once said, “Books and movies are like apples and oranges. They are both fruit, but taste completely different.” In other words, a movie and a book are based on the same story, but they have lots of differences. After watching the movie we, as a class, came to like the movie as a better version. The movie is a more complete story and brings the story to a more interesting ending. The movie, A Raisin In the Sun, is better than the book because it gives you a better visual description. Between the book and the movie the characters have some changes and differences. Some were added and others were just slightly modified. In the book we only hear about Willie in conversations, in the movie there are actual scenes with him in it. He is a quiet man with a shy personality. The man of Willie is better because the scene that he is in gives us a better …show more content…

For example, in the movie Mama gives Walter the money for his business in a restaurant. In the book, this transaction happens at their old home. This shows that Mama is handing over her husband’s life - his life insurance money - to her son. This is important because this is all that Mama has left in her life, and she wants to make her son happy. Changing the scene to be in a restaurant versus being in their apartment is important because important moments are done in important places. Also, in the scene where Asagi asks Beneatha to marry him outside the apartment versus in her room. When she sat on the stoop of the house she was all sad and upset about loosing the money. Asagi walks in and shows her that this is not that bad and he makes this sad moment a romantic one. This is important because the way in which he presents it makes you feel like the theme of the scene happier and likeable. With the setting change the movie becomes a better all around complete and feels like a better movie in
