A Reflection Of My Life

This paper is a reflection of my life. It explores my life through five parts. These five parts are: 1 - Family of origin and major childhood influences, 2 - important events, achievements, and persons, 3 - Faith history including call into ministry. 4 - Work history, 5 - Marriage and family history. The people, places and things that make me the person I am today, a servant of God. I am a descendent of a well-known, hard-working, spiritual family from Booth, Alabama a rural town west of Prattville, Alabama. I came from a long line of ministers, musicians, and spiritual singers. I completed high school in the top twenty percentile of my class, received a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Montevallo, and a Master’s Degree from Troy University. In fact, all three of my mother’s daughters have college degrees. Yes, she has always had a great influence on, my life but I was also influenced by my grandmother, aunts, teachers, sisters, community leaders and pastors. God has been good to me. I have had many important events in my life, such as; my three graduations, my retirement of 32 years from teaching, my marriage, the birth of my three sons and my call into the ministry. I have received honors in art, education and community service. I was honored by the American Allegiances for my art concerning employing vets. I was blessed with the honor of presenting my youth choir which included my sons to sing for Mrs. Rosa Parks. I am one of the founding charter members of the first majority black sorority (Delta Sigma Theta) on the campus of the University of Montevallo. I am the first woman minister to come from my family and the family of Locust Bluff United Methodist Church. These are just a few of the events, achievements, but the most important person in my life is Jesus the Christ. The history of my faith is long and its destination is to be with God.
