Dear Ms. Stetz-Waters: Enclosed is my report on “Capital Punishment”. This report begins with a brief background of the history of capital punishment and an overview of what capital punishment is defined as. The next section will begin to explain the problems that come with using this method for criminals. The report will look at four different aspects, cost efficiency, possibility of error, frequent discrimination, and its inefficiency in deterring crime rates. Many states have already abolished the death penalty due to its ineffectiveness and negative results, and it would benefit other states to do the same.

Many would argue that capital punishment is a much more effect method in handing criminals, but the research and data I have discovered say otherwise. In order to solve the issue at hand, a logical solution would be to abolish the death penalty completely.

Through this research I was able to expand my knowledge of this topic. One interesting fact that I learned is that using capital punishment costs nearly 2 million more than imprisonment for life costs. After finishing my research I have really enjoyed learning more about this subject matter. I hope you enjoy the information as well.
