PMI Guide 1 PMI GUIDE Purpose of this report to introduce and provide brief introduction to PMI PMBOK guide. To achieve this, I have decided to break this into three main areas, a) What PMI PMBOK guide provide to PMO organization b) What exactly as GXI organization doing, and c) Identify the gaps to improve or change our PMO organization 2 PMBOK KEY AREAS: As a non-profit organization PMI has focused on all areas of standard project management methodology and process, regardless of industry. The Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) was generally accepted knowledge, standard terminology, guideline, and practices are from various industries project management knowledge. These standards is applicable to most projects and programs. I particularly believe this standards are well suited for any IT organizations. PMBOK guide is created to organize the process of project management into five groups. Each group follow standard project life cycle processes. The groups are: 1) Initiate 2) Plan 3) Execute 4) Controlling 5) Closing 2.1 INITIATE "The Initiating Process Group consists of those processes performed to define a new project or a phase of an existing project by obtaining authorization to start the project or phase." – A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge This phase recognize that the project should start and gather required information to begin the work. Initiation usually involves defining a project and gaining approval to begin working.
