Intro- As I graduated high school, I always had the desire to up my career. So, my next step is to go to college. A week later, I started to think how am I going to live on my own? Where will I stay at, for my existing 4 years or maybe years? So, I did my research on the Kansas State University housing homepage. As I am looking through my options, I was interested in the Kramer complex’s. My mom told me is it safe, healthy, and in good living conditions to live there? When I kept scrolling down it showed how it will have safety and good health conditions throughout the complex. According to the Kansas State University housing and dining home page, “020 Forming a Committee, Every College must have an active safety committee. This must be a goal of each Dean. If the Dean desires, departments within a College may also have safety committees. The University Environmental Health & Safety Committee recommends that large departments or departments with high hazards have a safety committee.”. By me reading this, I had very high expectations for having very healthy environment within the housing departments. When I made a decision to choose as students Kansas State students feels weird and uncomfortable living away from home and have no choice to live on campus, students have to rely on K-States promise for students live safe and healthy regulated housing for the amount for money you payed for. Housing is one of the most pressing issues facing communities today. It effects practically all demographics, especially students, minorities, and low-income workers. College towns are often face the toughest challenges, with many students experiencing an extremely high cost of living. Without a detailed housing plan drafted by community members there is no chance of improving the conditions of housing or their related expenditures. So, what should be done about housing in college towns? How can we hope to provide for a municipality’s citizens while keeping costs down? Can neighboring institutions and cities assist or should they give communities the autonomy to improve themselves? The answers, I hope, will be found within the rest of this essay.

The text also includes why the students are homeless, how they are getting out of being homeless, and how colleges aren't recognizing the homeless population that go to the school. Bader wants to advocate for the students that are homeless and are going to college at the same time. She wants to inform her readers that there are students who attend college who are homeless. Bader achieves her purpose by using real-life stories and background information on homelessness on college campuses. According to Bader, oftentimes colleges don’t help students who are homeless because there’s a low awareness of it and they don’t want to serve the poor.
Many advocates and policymakers of housing for the poor believe that to achieve optimal human development of low-income households the location of the housing must be considered as well as the quality of the housing unit (Newman, 2008).

To judge the success or failure of Blumberg Apartments, we must first analyze the project as it works to provide good housing. Good housing should not just be regarded as a noun, it should also encompass housing as a verb. The commodity of the house as a shelter is the noun. This commodity should provide a place for redressing. It should hold the essential necessities that make for a comfortable and complete home. A place that balances privacy and social interactions. As a verb, good housing should be a utility that works to enhance one’s life (Turner, 1972). It should be a stepping stone towards opportunity. Many students at Kansas State University have a problem with having to hunt for a parking spot every time they arrive on campus. Buying a permit every year does not guarantee you a parking spot; it is more of a hunting permit. It does not seem to be fair that the university keeps taking away parking spots. Some of these spots were taken away in order to better the university with a new water treatment plant, but as the number of enrolled students is on the rise, the number of open parking spots continues to exponentially fall. Another large complaint among KSU students is the price of parking. We are proposing Kansas State builds a new parking garage to take care of the parking problems.

My search for housing began only six weeks after I had packed my entire life up and moved from New Hampshire to JMU. Gentrification can be defined simply as the shift in the makeup of the people in a community. It is the transition in a community from a run down, poorer area to a more wealthy demographic. Gentrification starts with the increase of property values caused by brokers and real estate agents. These brokers and real estate agents usually benefit the most from gentrification. Businesses that are moving in are storefront coffee shops, cafes, boutiques, etc. Since these newer, nicer shops are occupying the storefront, the rent for the apartments above rise, causing many people to lose their homes. The new tenants that move into these apartments are typically young and hip. They prefer to hang out at these coffee shops below. These new landlords are more in touch with the demographic changes and are looking to change the area in order to make money. The older, current landlords do not see a need for change. Some people will argue that gentrification is inevitable. While gentrification is happing all over the world, I did my research specifically on downtown Kansas City, Missouri, Harlem, New York, and DUMBO, Brooklyn, New York. Gentrification comes with both positive and negative effects. These three areas each show a unique perspective on gentrification.
New Hope Housing likely had strengths related to their employee development program, their effectiveness in housing people in need, and their niche for ensuring individuals who would typically be rejected housing. Some of their weaknesses likely related to their secured funding and current dependence on government funding. Some of their opportunities relate to finding solutions for permanent housing, as this is currently a struggle for the people they serve. Lastly, their threats likely also have to do with their government funding. As budgets change, money is moved around and can impact this organization for the better or for the worse.
The study population of consisted of approximately 1,890 students who resided in off campus housing in “Provo, Utah” (Johnson, Cole & Merrill, 2009, p. 2). Kansas has many state parks and the popular place is the monument rocks and the castle rocks. The monument rocks and the castle rocks have fossils in ancient chalks in plain western Kansas which is a spectacular landmark. The chalk was deposited during the Cretaceous period of geological history about 80 million years ago, when the central interior was covered by sea. The fossils were like shark teeth, fish bones, even dinosaur bones, and other sea creatures. The fossils in the chalk bed go to the Sternberg Museum in Hays.Michael J. Those who rent from private landlords do not only tend to, on average, pay almost double the rent of a person living within social housing but also are twice as likely to live in a residence the Government would class as a “non-decent home”, a residence in disrepair and one that does not meet health and safety standards (Jonathan Owen, 2014). The undisputable growth of private renting sector is not limited to England but is also noticeable in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. In wales the private rental sector represents 14% of total housing, the private rental sector in Scotland has doubled over the last ten years as more than three hundred thousand properties have been sold and in Northern Ireland private landlords own more properties than councils and housing associations combined according to national figures provided in 214 (Jonathan Owen, 2014).
