Literature Review Dissent within organizations could be seen as organizational problems. The climate of the organizations and the managers misunderstand and unable to identify and respond to the expression of dissent. It is a risky situation for employees to dissent upwardly, but they might gain benefits from doing it. At the beginning, dissent tends to be part of issues of principle and ethics prior findings has indicated that organizational, relational, and individual factors likely drive the upward dissent. However, they do not discuss the strategies of upward dissent used by employees. In this study, the author aims to explore strategies of upward dissent. The study identified four different strategies which include personal, contractual, regulative, and direct tactics. The exit-voice-loyalty model of employees in the super-subordinate relations also studied. Purpose dan Research Questions The purpose of this study was to assess strategies employees use to express upward dissent within contemporary organizations. “RQ1: What identifiable upward dissent strategies do employees use?”(p.192) Methodology The author used a survey questionnaire to collect data from respondents (N=135) who were full-time employees in Arizona. Their work fields were in sales, education, health care, banking or financial services, manufacturing, service, government, information technology, engineering, media or communication, nonprofit, law enforcement, and also some unidentified
