Genetics has always been a topic piquing my interest. From the first time I learned about a pedigree in middle school biology to the day I discovered the library of chromosomes housed in each of our cells, I could not help but be fascinated with genetics and its role in our portrayals, capabilities, and prevalence in disease. Perhaps this curiosity stemmed from the fact that I have an identical twin. The notion that our likeness, physical features, and even temperament, were due to the identical genetic material residing inside of us, amazed me and is something that continues to spark my interest today. My own personal experiences as a twin and my interest in medicine have unrelentingly lured me towards genetics. AGR3303 and my involvement in the lab gave me the chance to explore my interest in this field. As my intrigue in genetics carries on and as the field expands further into medicine, I am thankful that this class gave me such a strong biological background as it provided me the ability to understand and appreciate the ever-changing role genetics plays in diagnostic medicine. The Introduction to Genetics course really answered my own curious questions and exposed me to how this discipline interplays in the fields of medicine, law, and its value to human consumption. My experience in the lab undoubtedly developed my problem solving skills, and pushed me to creatively come up with new solutions. As a novel researcher, sometimes results were unexpected and
