“A Robot that Eats Pollution” Pollution is one of leading factors for death in the population of sea mammals and is only rising. Jonathan Rossiter, a robotics professor at Bristol University is advocating for a new solution to a growing problem that is causing much turmoil to the creatures of the sea. He presents his idea during his TED talk “A Robot that Eats Pollution”. Rossiter argues that there isn't a practical solution when it comes to managing pollution in the sea. Yes, we have technologies that are capable of managing pollution, but not at a level where we can see significant change. This is where Rossiter is challenging the system responsible for managing pollution and improving these creatures ecosystems. His new project called …show more content…

Not only could this have changed the dynamic of the presentation, but starting off presentations by establishing credibility is very important as it can draw in the audience more closely not needing to compensate as the presentation progresses. Leaving this out really took away from the presentation as the audience had no real basis on creating their opinion other than assuming he was a capable individual because he was at a TED talk, which really does not resonate too well. Though one could argue the information Rossiter presents when speaking about his project ranges from biology, ecosystems, and robotics which could create a better sense of credibility in the eye of a few but ultimately is knowledge that one could come across in a high school classroom. To those who are aware of Rossiters’ credentials there is no arguing that he is a credible individual, but for those who are newly being introduced not establishing his credentials really takes away from what could have been a great presentation instead of a good presentation. Connecting with the audience is very important when presenting an idea and Rossiter was aware of this but that does not mean the connection has to be there on an emotional level. Rossiters’ key method in doing this was by throwing in a few jokes in his presentation creating a humor appeal to his presentation allowing him to connect on a more superficial
