It was a calm evening at the East Side Bank. There were just two customers in the lobby. One was a woman sitting down waiting for a representative and the other one was a man standing being serviced by one of the two bank tellers. The East Side Bank was a small branch. At the back was the three bank teller windows for handling transactions in person. There were also two offices to left side of the lobby for handling new accounts and loans. On the right side of the lobby was a hallway that led to some the back offices, the employee lounge and the vault. The light fixture outside the front door was out therefore it was difficult to see people before they entered the front door after dark. Startled and confused, he decided to interrupt his break to investigate the disturbance. He walked down the short hallway that led to the lobby. When he reached the end of the hallway, he peered around the corner to get a picture of the situation without revealing himself. His heart skipped a beat the moment he laid eyes on the gun pointed at Kelly. Before anyone noticed his presence, he ducked back. Next, he grabbed his gun from its holster and raised it up. Then he took a deep breath and quickly jumped out into the lobby with the gun pointed directly at the gunman. “Put the gun down!” He yelled. Then the shorter masked person quickly grabbed a crying woman who was cowering behind some chairs. The woman screamed some more as a knife was brought up to her throat. With a feminine voice the shorter masked person said, “If you don’t drop it, she gets it.” “Okay. You win. Just don’t hurt anyone. ” replied Walter. Fearing any bloodshed from innocents, Walter surrendered his gun to the gunman; tossed it carefully in front of him. Then proceeded to slowly drop to his knees with his hands out in surrender. The gunman then kicked the gun to an unoccupied corner of the room where it slid under a cabinet out of reach. “Now as I was saying, give up the money,” said the gunman to Kelly.
Kelly then snapped out of shock and began to empty all the cash out out her till. At the same time the other teller began
