It was that jolly time of the year again and of course Stan and Roger were arguing over who would be on the naughty list.
If it were up to me, they would both be on it. Every year I go through the same thing, my older siblings always fighting over the most trivial and ridiculous things. They usually leave me alone because I’m so much younger and have never done anything to bother them.
“KLAUS!”
My mother yelled my name from downstairs. I rushed downstairs and asked my mother what was amiss. “Klaus, Oma is paying us a visit for the Christmas Eve feast, so you and your brothers better behave or else.” Ok mom I promise I’ll be good, but it’s not me you have to worry about, it’s Stan and Roger. “Yes yes I’ll be sure to give them a good talking to.” I trudged up the stairs and to my room. To my surprise, Stan and Roger were already sleeping soundly. They must’ve tuckered themselves out from rough housing all day. It took but ten minutes before I dozed off for the night. When I woke up the next morning, I was shocked to not hear the yelling of my older brothers. It was then that I came to the realization that the ominous silence could only mean one thing... Oma must’ve already gotten here. I cautiously tiptoed down the stairs. “Theres my boy!” And to my dismay, my intuition was right. I was expecting her to pull my cheeks and tell me how much I’d grown, but instead she said nothing and walked straight to the dining house. Our dining house was separate from our normal

The turn of the century was marked by a movement known as the Progressive Era, during which many groups sought to reshape the nation's government and society in response to the pressure of urbanization and industrialization. Progressives were mainly members of the Post-Civil War generation that made an attempt to master a world much different then that of their parents.
As lydia stepped inside she was greeted by chaos. Her mother yelling on the phone , her brothers arguing about whose turn it was to play with their favorite toys ,the old dusty television on full volume, the house smelling of smoke from the cigarette that her mother held in between her fingers. Lydia let out a loud frustrated sigh and went to her room.
Lukas stood and rubbed his eyes. He wasn’t in the living room with the rest of his family anymore, but he seemed to be in a desolate place with no sound or light. Lukas cupped his hands around his mouth and slightly raised his voice. “Hello?” His emotionless exterior faded as he realized he was truly alone. Was this a prank from that stupid Dane? Lukas didn’t remember doing anything that would remotely annoy Matthias, other than- oh. He had “insulted” one of Matthias’s favorite holidays. Was this a punishment? Lukas called out again, raising his voice even louder. “Hello? Matthias, if this is about the Christmas thing, I will choke you!” He was answered with nothing but echoes, none of the Dane’s signature giggles. Lukas sat down then, wrapping his arms around his legs. Then, he looked down to find himself still in his dragon pyjamas. He sighed and buried his head into his knees. Apparently, he had gotten himself into a big mess of things.
It was a dark and lonely night in the small country town. Not a sound could be heard for miles except for the sound of the creaking windmill in Big Papa’s farmyard.
She scowled at the news, but then disrobed to only her Guard uniform. The medals on her chest shined like sky dots. “Don’t make me regret picking you for this.”
In an alleyway riddled with trash laid a man barely conscious of the world. Beneath his back, seeping all around him was his life. Reaching his bloody fingers up to trace the edges of a nonexistent face. " Serenity," he rasped. "Serenity," he rasped again.
After waiting more than an hour in the parking lot for Marlene to arrive, Katherine was ready to go home when she saw the old familiar Malibu pull into the parking lot, and rushed behind the building so her daughter wouldn’t see her. Peeking around the corner, Katherine watched Marlene get out of the car, go to the driver’s side and kissed him passionately, before waltzing across the doctor’s parking lot swinging her keys. Katherine watched as her the raven-haired beauty with a reputation for being high maintenance get in the red Mercedes and drive out of the parking lot.

While driving down Lemon Grove Blvd. after leaving the motel, Marlene smiled, recalling the past few hours she had spent there and wanted to get home before Jerry and Andrew arrived. Driving down her driveway she parked, brushed her hair, freshened her lipstick before rushing into the house, calling out, “Honey, I’m home” Hearing no response, relieved that she was safe, going into the kitchen, she made a fresh pot of coffee. While waiting, she sat at the counter and glanced through the morning paper. Answering the phone when it rang, Marlene asked, “Barnes residence, may I help you?”
As I look out my window, all I see is a deep, dark void. Then my eyes adjust. Sparkling lights slowly appear out of the blank. I look to my left, and see a brown marble, the size of my fingernail. I look back inside the ship. Machines buzz, buttons click, the engine hums. The symphony of sounds slowly faded into faint white noise.
Brianne rushed through the bright red halls to meet up with her best friend Kristen. Kristen was the outgoing type of girl, the one who you could depend on in tough situations. In particular, last month my parents got a divorce and she always stuck by my side. In other words she always made sure to cheer me up and make me laugh even if I felt like giving up. All of the sudden I felt a tug on my arm.
The smell of antiseptic filled my nostril as I gripped my coffee tightly. Swinging my bag over my shoulders, I watched as the other nurses and doctors walked into rooms checking on patients. The sound of familiar beeping rang through the air, as I strolled past the front desk into the hospital break room. I opened the doors and heard the voice of my coworker.
I sat a bit taller straightening my back to show that I had some interest in what Mama had to say. To be honest, I was feeling surprised how she didn’t know what color I wanted. How could she not know well enough about me to not know what I dreaded and admired?
Wake up Jax, wake up! This was the first thing I heard before a hefty bucket of water was discarded on to me. I woke up with distraught, complaining that it was a Saturday and that I needed more sleep. I turned on my phone, noticing that the date on the screen read May 7, 2022. That was when I realized, today is going to be one of the biggest days for me. I am going to be taking both my Math and English SAT. I felt ready, yet I also had an uneasy feeling stuck inside me. I had been studying for the past 3 months, taking PSAT’s and what not. I didn’t have to go to my school to take the SAT’s for another 3 hours, so I decided, why not take a little nap before I go? JAX, IT’S 1:15 PM, YOU ARE GOING TO MISS YOUR SAT’S! “This is just a dream,” I thought, “I’m going to keep sleeping, there’s no way I slept more than 3 hours already.” Then it came, Slap!
