Unfortunately, not every story I'll narrate in my blog ends up with small victims overcome their dire stories of abuse. Some, like this they'll tell you now, they terminate making our hearts shrink, our stomachs hurt and feel powerless. This is a story where the tears of the victim found no voice.
The story of Victoria Martens is as short as tragic. A beautiful little girl who could not leave her desperate history and lived the worst experience of her life; which it was, to have a degenerate, selfish and evil mother.
On August 24, 2016, a day after Victoria fulfilled her ten years, she was found dead. After being raped, she was murdered by her aggressors and all this with the approval of her mother. Her pseudo-mother, Michelle Martens, 35,

In detail, Gonzales sexually assaulted and strangled while Jessica covered her mouth; all this, Michelle was engaged only watch as the life of her daughter was force and came to the end.
As a result, Victoria's small body was found in the bathtub of her apartment was partially wrapped in a blanket, without arms, her leg almost torn from her body, with bruises on her neck and burned.
It is so sad, this occurred meanwhile Victoria was waiting for the birthday gift that would give her godmother. This is the short story about her; however, this is not everything, we don’t know how many times the little girl was abused, how many times she was drugged, and how many times she felt alone and desperate.
As the Chief of Albuquerque Police, New Mexico, Gordon Eden said: "This homicide is the most gruesome act of evil I have ever seen in my career. A complete esregard of human life and betrayal by a mother”.
Today the facts of such low acts face charges of kidnapping, child abuse with great bodily harm, alteration of evidence, conspiracy, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and murder. In addition, Gonazales faces the charge of criminal sexual penetration of a
It has been almost 21 years since the murder of a little six-year-old girl by the name of JonBenet Ramsey of Boulder Colorado. Her parents were John and Patsy Ramsey. The question remains til this day “Who killed JonBenet?”
A child pageant star was found asphyxiated with craniocerebral trauma in the basement of her own house on the day after Christmas in 1996. Her name was JonBenet Ramsey; she was a six year old girl who lived with her mother, father and brother in Boulder City, Colorado. Her death shocked the public and the murderer has yet to be found. Many blame the mistakes the detectives made during the investigation and her case has gained more recent popularity due to the fact that it has been approximately twenty years since her unfortunate demise.
On March 4, 1980, the first female victim, 12-year-old Angel Lenair, disappeared. She left her house around 4 pm, wearing a denim outfit, and was last seen at a friend 's house watching the television program Sanford and Son. Lenair 's body was found six days later, in a wooded vacant lot along Campbellton Road, wearing the same clothes in which she had left home. A pair of white panties that did not belong to Lenair were stuffed in her mouth, and her hands were bound with an electrical cord. The cause of death was strangulation.
Michelle was isolated in a room for almost over a decade, during this time she was beaten, raped some times more than two times a day (Connors, 2014). She was impregnated more than 4 times by Ariel Castro, each time she had become pregnant he would starve her and beat her “with a barbell” causing her to miscarry the baby each time (Knight, 2015). Over the years Michelle would have visions of her and Joey having conversations, and playing in the snow together, she never let a birthday pass she always remembered every one (Kalymnios & Tolkin, 2015).
On November 19th, 1993 Juan Rivera was convicted for the August 17th, 1992 rape and murder of then eleven year-old Holly Staker, who at the time was babysitting her two siblings (University of Michigan Law School). His wrongful conviction was the result of failures by not only the public, but also law enforcement personnel and the criminal justice system, as we will further examine.
William, Rachel’s three year old son is crying standing over her as she is slowly regaining consciousness. Her boyfriend, Daniel, was gone; their bedroom door was left cracked open and Rachel was on the couch in their room. Pained around her neck from where he choked her, she tries to wrap her head around how she got to this point. Why does Daniel hate her? What did she do this time? Can she, should she, just leave with William? Rachel realizes she has to get out of the house before Daniel gets back. When she arrives at her mother’s house, her mom is alarmed. Rachel has bruises around her neck and marks around her hairline. Rachel’s mother tells her “You come here every week and you go back to that monster every week. I see these bruises but you must not feel they are a problem since you keep going back to him.” Rachel’s mom walks out of the room frustrated.
In the summer of 1994 an Illinois woman’s buzzer rang at her apartment complex in Waukegan. She went downstairs to check after nobody went upstairs to her apartment. As soon as she reached the door downstairs, two men forced her into a dark colored sedan, kidnapped her, and raped her. Distraught after her attack, the victim wandered until she ultimately found a Seven Eleven close by and the police were called. When the police arrived, the victim said she was attacked by two Hispanic men that looked to be in their mid-twenties and a bit taller than her height of five feet and seven inches. The car that she was forced into was described as dark colored, older, having four doors and tinted windows. The victim’s boyfriend saw Angel Gonzalez’s car in the apartment complex parking lot and it matched the characteristics that the woman used to describe the assailant’s car. Police later stopped Gonzalez’s car and the victim acknowledged that the car was the one she described. She was then asked if Gonzalez was one of her attackers, and she was certain that he was, despite her being in the backseat of the police car while he was in front of it. Not only was he not close enough for her to get a clear view, but he also had facial hair and a birthmark, both characteristics that she did not use to describe her attackers. This led to Gonzalez being in police custody for interrogation where they did not allow him to sleep. When he was interrogated, he
Although her parents were not present throughout all the challenges she has encountered, they can be blamed for the avoidant attachment style because “an avoidant attachment style is formed when parents or caregivers are unavailable, preoccupied, or disinterested. Children with unresponsive or dismissive parents feel like they aren’t important and learn that their needs won’t be met” (Martin, 2017). This is exactly what happened, as Victoria’s parents were the cause for her inability to connect with others now. Her childhood has heavily carried over into her present life. Diffenbaugh makes this known as Victoria states that “as a child, I had vomited from closeness: from touch or the threat of touch. Foster parents towering over me, shoving my uncooperative arms into a jacket, teachers ripping hats from my head, their fingers lingering too long on my tangled hair, had forced my stomach into uncontrollable convulsions” (2012, pg. 176). Closeness made her uncomfortable as a young child,
“Abuse is still seriously under reported. I was told by leading British social worker that when they hold training courses for employees, they find that a third of the females and slightly less of the males come forward to talk about their childhood experiences of being abused. Over ninety percent of parents as some time hit their children – and some people hit them several times a week – so there is a great deal of emotional hurt, fear and physical pain in the world today” (Davis 251). For this reason alone it makes perfect sense why violent crime rates are so frighteningly high.
This story is not a typical one when it comes to the topic of child abuse. Most people would think that they would hear about starvation, or beatings, or sexual molestation. But child abuse is harming a child whether it be mentally or physically and forcing a child to live with something like this can be severely mentally damaging. (Hopper)
The short stories, "The Story of an Hour" and "A Pair of Silk Stockings" were both written in the 1800 's. The stories are both written by Kate Chopin, a female author. The period in which these stories were written gave impact on other female writers to produce stories too. The literary devices Chopin uses in both these stories show how educated female writers were at the time. The way the author, Kate Chopin, uses many literary devices in her works, "The Story of an Hour" and "A Pair of Silk Stockings", such as location, imagery and characterization.
They do not deserve to have their lives threatened or to see their mother abused the way she was. However, there were people in my family who felt as though they didn’t need any help or that they were fine and it was all blown out of proportion. While this distortion is damaging to the children who were traumatized, it also shows how trauma affects the person holding the distortion. It shows that their perspective of trauma was handled in a different way than other people and it creates a challenge. It challenged me to understand how different people perceive the trauma of others and how it affects everyone’s lives
Are we ruining the globe for our descendants; or are we finding a way to power our cars, lights, and homes? This is the question of global warming. I say this: global warming isn’t all it’s made out to be. There have been little, if any effects. We aren’t necessarily warming either. Although I know this for sure: WE ARE NOT THE CAUSE! To know what is going on, lets look at the big picture. Let’s start off at co2.
Child sexual abuse has been reported up to 80,000 times a year, but the number of unreported instances is far greater, because the children are afraid to tell anyone what has happened (American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry). Childhood sexual abuse is a traumatic experience affecting the lives of not only the victim, but those close to the victim as well. Many think there is only one person truly traumatized, but in fact, everyone involved is affected. The victim has to deal with their experience the rest of their lives. They may be more at risk for other mental issues as well, including depression. The family involved has to deal with its pain, often causing hardship and discord within the family. This is especially true
I. Attention getter: Do you know a friend or family member who has been sexually abused? Or maybe you have experienced sexual abuse yourself? Are you aware of the psychological and developmental effects it can have on you or someone you may know? Chances are, you don’t—while sexual abuse is common, may people do not speak up, and the problem goes unrecognized.
