Freedom is not free. It is obtained for us by people we don’t know in countries far away. Veterans are the key to keeping our country safe. They were willing to give up their family, friends, security, and even their lives to fight for the rights of those they don’t know. By risking it all, veterans are able to be an inspiration to a whole country.
American Heroes were inspired by Greek Tragic Heroes, yet both are very different from each other, but American Heroes have very similar traits to those who are Contemporary Heroes. An American Hero is a person who seeks justice and always defeats the enemy which results in all people having the justice they deserve. American Heroes also tends to protect all and has the tendency to fall in love with the “ damsel in distress”. This type of hero goes about his daily life, just like anyone else would, until it is time to fight, and at that time, their “supernatural” powers shine through in their fighting techniques. On the other side, all Tragic Heroes possess a flaw that will change their life from a life of happiness to a life of pain and despair. Ordinarily, Contemporary Heroes have nearly the same traits as American Heroes. Contemporary Heroes save and protect many individuals from violence and harm and lives a normal life until they have to face another obstacle. Both American and Contemporary Heroes are able to celebrate their victories, while Tragic Heroes can not do so because they are not victorious.
Every child has fantasy's of being a super hero and leaping tall buildings in a single bound or staring death in the face everyday and somehow finding a way to escape. All of these imaginative thoughts have been derived from the past literary works by the great writers of the early American literary period. These early writers entered society into a world of action and adventure, where one can see spectacular events unfolding through the eyes of a notorious man of courage and feel as though they are defending there country or saving the woman they love. Though the modern heroes are much more
America's veterans, they have laid their life on the line in ways only they will ever know. They have survived living nightmares and are left with permanent scars. Some of these scars are easy to see, others are too deep, all are painful. They have come home to emptiness and desolation. Many come home to no home at all. They are left living on the streets and struggling to find work, or simply deal with life after war. America's veteran's deserve better than this. America's veterans deserve better care and aid through more housing programs, higher health care standards and greater counseling opportunities.
There are so many history stories in history books and on the internet, but the source from people who were actually there is so much better than reading the nonsense. It’s better to hear stories from people who have actually lived and witnessed it rather than just read stories about it. Most students listen better than they read. When you listen to stuff, it sticks in our mind way longer than looking at a book trying to figure out what’s going on. Veterans are an example of this. They tell us stories about the times they were in the training and when they battled, if they did or have already. They have always been an important part of our nation’s history, present, and future. Everyone who went into the military or is currently planning to join has or will have a story to tell. It will be a part of them that they will always remember, the good times and the bad times. So many veterans love telling all the experiences they have witnessed. Thinking of it, it’s not a bad thing; it’s a great thing to be able to say they were actually there. Many students ask what the training is like when they first join the military, although it’s really tough, many still consider going, some even make the commitment to join right after they graduate. Those who do make it, the commitment, are the reason our nation’s history and future is how it is and how
Americanism is defined by Merriam Webster as a characteristic of the American English, attachment or allegiance to the traditions, interests, or ideals of the United States, a custom or trait peculiar to America, or the political principles and practices essential to American culture. Americanism to me is not just in words, but also in action. We can appreciate our rights, freedoms and justice, but to show a deeper understanding of Americanism you must be willing to take action to support them.
Living in America, the land of the free, I have taken the right of freedom for granted a few too many times. To this day, certain populations around the world are not able to enjoy the right of individualism. Many are oppressed by their country’s strict law due to a primarily focus on male dominance, child labor, and female oppression. Obtaining freedom is never easy. It takes honor, courage, and commitment. Fighting for freedom is an ironic concept because soldiers must be willing to sacrifice their own. Even after knowing this sacrifice, we still have brave individuals who volunteer to put their lives in harm’s way for the safety and insurance of our freedom. It is only fair that we return the favor and take care of our soldiers and veterans

What makes an American hero? Is it someone who created a super market? Or is it someone who led this country in a civil war? Is it someone who gave their life to make sure this country was free? To me an American hero is someone who risked her life to free her people. To me an American hero is someone who wanted freedom so bad, she defied the odds and helped make it happen. To me Harriet Tubman is an American hero.
I am a twenty year US Navy Veteran and have worked with the VA Health Care System since 2008 after retiring from military service. I had the privilege of meeting you personally last year at the VACO in DC and at the 2016 ACHE conference in Chicago. I always believe, from my first impression meeting with you, that you would do more for the Veterans who has given and continue to give for this country.
American patriots, they are the role-models of the common people. An American patriot isn't always a warrior covered in blood or a man with the dog tags of all his friends, but a common man who inspires others. An American patriot serves their country not because he/she is told to but instead because they want to. I don't call myself a patriot, but instead, I look up to those who are. Those individuals who are the real heroes of our nation are the ones that kids grow up hearing stories of. American patriots are people who would offer assistance to other people without thinking of the benefits or costs of doing so. For me, I would also help others or attempt to help people, but I don't consider myself a patriot for
Americanism is a word that we should all be familiar with. It is something that defines this country and the people in it. Americanism to me is being courteous and gracious to the country that you live in. In my essay, I will be talking about what it means to have a flag in the classroom, community service, and how to be a citizen of your town/city.
Americanism by definition is a custom or another cultural characteristic typical of the people of the United States and loyalty to their nation. This explanation of Americanism is a rather difficult one to work with. One might ask, “what is typical of the United States when it is a country consisting of cultures and religions from around the word?” One thing that is true for all Americans is the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. However, the story No-No Boy by John Okada takes place in a time of war, and when there is tension between different nations, rules may change. As a whole, America must protect itself ageist those who they are at war with. When Japan bombed Pearl Harbor, America took action and re-wrote the
