Malintzin had an important role in the ancient history and colonization of Latin America. She would rise from just a simple servant girl and slave, to become one of the key factors of the Spanish colonization of the indigenous natives in the New World. She helped translate for the Spanish conquistadors and even Hernando Cortés himself. Malintzin’s interpreting skills would prove crucial in the dealings between Hernando Cortés and the Aztec emperor Montezuma. Camilla Townsend uses the story of Malintzin to display the conquest of Mexico in a different aspect and first person point of view.

Each year the United States government documents drug related deaths in our country, breaking the deaths down into categories of cause. These categories include tobacco, alcohol, prescription medications, illegal drug, and of course marijuana related deaths. Every year the number of deaths coming from marijuana is equivalent to zero. So why is there even controversy over the issue of legalization? Obviously, there are still some people out there who believe the drug is a topic for concern in our nation. In recent years, there has been tremendous progress being made in the field of medicine. University hospitals around the country have been proving again and again that the drug poses no threat to human health and well being, even

In this case Gerry is a third party because he received the information from another source, and he needs to decide if he wants and or needs to inform his athlete of what he has been told. The ethical issues that Gerry is most likely thinking about are his concern for his athlete’s health and was his athlete performing a high-risk behavior by dating this girl. Gerry also probably considered that bringing this up to his athlete could damage their relationship or cause conflict. I think Gerry needs to pursue additional information not only from the secretary, but possibly from a doctor if possible. Gerry shouldn’t just take the secretary’s word on the girl having been diagnosed with HIV because it could be manipulated for whatever reason. Gerry
Marijuana is the most commonly used illegal substance in United States and in many other countries; this is a statement that seems to be in each article that is written about the legalization of marijuana. This is a subject that has been up for debate for quite a few years now. There are many people who support the legalization of this drug and are strongly convinced that marijuana is not a drug in which one should be punished for, but rather a drug that should not be frowned upon and seen as a way to help our nation economically and medically. On the other end, there are also many people who support the criminalization of marijuana and believe it is a drug that should remain illegal
In my illustrative essay I’m going to be writing about legalizing marijuana. It doesn’t seem like a good choice for some people but legalizing marijuana would probably change things a lot in our state. Legalizing marijuana would cut down some of the crime rate since people wouldn’t be in trouble for selling or being caught with it. It would also help the people who has to have it for their medical condition. Another thing about legalizing marijuana is that marijuana doesn’t really have long term effects on a person’s health unless they start smoking at a juvenile age.
In their article, Welsh and Loria start off by saying how medical marijuana has been legalized in more than 20 states(Paragraph 1) and how even CNN’s medical correspondent has changed his stance on medical marijuana(Paragraph 2). People are still stuck between whether marijuana should be legal or not, but most can agree that medical marijuana is “okay”. They go on to show that more and more studies are being conducted to try and understand how the drug is beneficial. Loria and Welsh then go on to write about the potential benefits of marijuana. In a study conducted by the National Eye Institute, they found that marijuana lowered intraocular pressure for people with glaucoma and those without(Paragraph 10). The next benefit that they mention, which this was has caused lots of controversy, is that marijuana stops cancer from spreading. A research done at California Pacific Medical Center has shown that CBD, cannabidiol, could help
In America there are a lot of problems, ranging from violence to obesity. A growing concern of many Americans is the drug “epidemic” with the growth of the war on drugs. Marijuana, throughout history, has been demonized and illegalized, however now a newfound acceptance of the drug is growing rapidly with some states fully legalizing the drug recreationally, and others medically.
A number of movements to legalize marijuana have been gaining attention lately. Currently there are 14 states where marijuana is legal for medical use (medicalmarijuana). 41% of U.S. citizens believe marijuana should be legalized (drugpolicy) but others are still concerned about health damage. American society has lost the war against marijuana, and that's okay. We should stop wasting time and money trying to reverse history and instead legalize both medical and recreational use of this mild narcotic widely seen as no more harmful than alcohol.
A subculture is a group of people who share a distinctive set of cultural beliefs and behaviors that differ in some significant way from that of larger society. Marijuana smokers can be considered a subculture for many reasons. Marijuana is used by millions of people around the world, either for recreational, spiritual, or therapeutic reasons. Some call themselves the cannabis connoisseurs; people who respect cannabis and use it responsibly. Few drugs have been so politicized recently as marijuana has. It is frequently praised by one side and condemned by the other, on the basis of emotional issues rather than an objective view of research.
Have you ever thought about drugs like marijuana and the history or impact it can cause on your life? Many people do not think about these things when it comes to taking drugs. They just like to take drugs for fun and usually don’t care what happens. Well many people don’t know a lot about marijuana. There are a lot of things you should know before taking any type of drug like marijuana.
Marijuana or Cannabis is one of the bused drugs in America and the rest of the world. Interesting accumulating evidence show that the significant negative impact of this drug outweighs the positive effects. However, the medical benefits of the drug seem on the process of chemical compounds as compared to the drug itself. Medical debates show that chemical compound in marijuana are the problem as compared to the plant. The said chemical compound affects the mental and physical health of the persons abusing this drug. There have been traditional efforts to control the use of marijuana through legislation laws, (Crick, Haase, & Bewley-Taylor, 2013). However, in the recent past the efforts and the laws are being lifted to relax the implementation of the same legislations and the population is responding fast in accepting the legalization of the use of marijuana. The aim of this paper is to discuss how lifting on the laws of the said drug indicate adverse tolerance of Cannabis among populations. The paper will also discuss impact of legalization marijuana on the safety, security and overall quality of human life. Also, the paper will analyses the effect of relaxation of the laws controlling this drug to other hard core drugs such as cocaine, heroin and meth-amphetamines among others.
When I first started thinking about my participant observation I had numerous ideas of what I could learn, but as I started to think about what I should do, then I realized I just started my own participant observation that I was already extremely dedicated to so I decided I could write it down for this class. My participant observation might be different from others, but I was extremely dedicated and devoted to learning everything I could about the helpful benefits of marijuana if grown organically and properly since countless times large grow facilities will use “organic” pesticides to spray plants to exterminate the bugs and they must wear suits just to spray the pesticides. Accordingly, I meet a truly experienced grower in the community which decided to mentor me and show me the ways of growing marijuana organically and in soil, which I had never tried before, I always worked in aero or hydroponic systems.
This is a very interesting article. The whole concept of using social gaming constructs to help children with ADHD focus more with a brand new series brought to the table and it was something that I wanted to read more about. In this article they used the testing of children with ADHD and the constructs of social gaming the theory behind the dopamine that is released when individuals of playing video games. Using that dopamine for the children with ADHD in theory will allow those children to now concentrate and focus a lot longer on tasks that they need to do. In my opinion that is an awesome discovery and definitely one that should be further prosecuted. The end outcome of the study was inconclusive, but they definitely made progress with
