II. Introduction
Across the globe, the primary universal language that is accepted in English. To communicate effectively and interact in corporate and industrial environment at international level, an effective hold of language is must especially from students in colleges as they represent the future. But, there are very few countries in the world which have English as their first language. Therefore a level of difficulty arises for non-native speakers of English to adjust in the international standards of the language. Also, countries which do not have English as their first language struggle with the accent and dialect of their individuals where culture becomes an important factor in the use of Universal language English especially with use of slang words. This is an era of modernization and social media, internet communication plays an important role in exposure to the western culture in other countries of the world.
Relevance of the Research
The relevance of this research helps in analysing the formal and slang usage of English by Southeast Asian students from exposure to western culture through different means of communication. This study will help the researcher to understand different English colloquialisms inherited by college students in the three countries that are involved in this study (China, Japan and Philippines). The way in which we speak changes drastically depending on the situation, environment we are in and who we are speaking to. The use of slang in today’s society is increasingly becoming more and more common. However, this new, modern way of speaking also comes with negative connotations. For this reason, people have had to learn to adapt their speech to their situation. I will be discussing the reasons behind the use of slang, why some people disapprove of it and I will analyse how people change the way in which they speak depending on their situation.
In this research, I’m going to focusing on the English as a language is being taught in many countries oversea today including Thailand. In fact, you’ll be surprising to know that English is required for many of the students in many countries. Unfortunately, it is not necessarily taught as well as it could be because of heavy teaching load, class sizes and adequate technology. Learning an English today still's has been challenging for many countries and specifically in Thailand. In Thailand, the student often gets too overwhelmed with English and mentally tune out in the classroom because English was their least favorite subjects. On the other hand, the students don’t have a resource at school or they don’t have it enough. Furthermore, many students just go to English class and switch back to Thai as soon as they out of school. English isn't used locally in Thailand. Although, there still a lot students continue care about English language because English has been the most ordinarily utilized language internationally and the language of traffic control and the majority of academic journals. It’s the most common language on the internet and the language that travelers use to communicate with different native speakers.
For people who regard the English language as a foreign language or second language, it’s so difficult to express it as perfect. This “mini research paper” talks about “Cultural Effect on English Language Collocation as Foreign Language” to help them more understanding in how to mastering English.
My former choir director once stated that singing made one more vulnerable than even being nude. Because really the act of singing is like that of cutting yourself open, and giving people a piece of you through a concoction of air and honed muscle coordination, oscillating to a degree that could be physically felt by others. This human connection offered by the art form is primarily physical. Every song heard be it live or recorded is a physical manifestation of someone’s physical self. This is how music in literal terms can touch people. Through my training in music I have left a physical mark on people singing everywhere from Carnegie Hall’s Stern Auditorium to the Hochschule für Musik Berlin.
Slang terms have been a prominent part of society for many years. Slang terms have also changed from generation to generation. This paper will discuss some common slang terms and see if there is a significant difference between the generations. Two hypotheses were used for this research project. The reason that there are two is explained in the paper.

Communication. Most people agree that English is the globally recognized language for use within the international business. However, this is not always true if one takes in additional changes within the balance of economic power and the increasing mobility of the global workforce. Modern technology and shifts in national policy are common factors that influence the way English is used and taught. With the growth of the BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India, and China) economies, the balance of power has changed, and the economic primacy of the countries where English is a native language can no longer be taken for granted (Graddol, 2006). Combined with the number of native English speakers are falling in absolute terms, soon to fall into fifth place behind Mandarin, Spanish, Hindi-Urdu, and Arabic (Sweeney & Hua, 2010). Although numbers of non-native speakers of English are increasing, Sweeney & Hua (2010) estimates that about a quarter of the world’s population speaks English to a reasonable standard; by the year twenty-sixty, he estimates that non-native speakers will outnumber native speakers by fifty percent. However, its position and its nature could be the key is preparing to learn how to use different methods for communicating differences and differentiating between what are the standard aspects. What we considered acceptable or unacceptable within the culture. These issues can become a pure culture shock among managers, subordinates, and customers of foreign countries.
Such international events usually bring together people from different linguistic and socio-cultural backgrounds with the result that a common language of communication is frequently adopted. The high demand in the use of English in the fields of international politics, science and technology has led to the global spread of the language. The understanding of this ownership status is crucial in establishing a successful and effective practice or study of intercultural communication, by acknowledging the variations of English, as well as cultural differences in communication styles within classroom and business contexts.

A study by Maria Solon of the Ateneo de Davao University proves that the students of the AdDU’s High School Department use American Colloquialisms in their blogs. A few blog sites by the students were examined. The bloggers were also interviewed.
In a public poll on debate.org the question ‘Should English Be The World Language’ was posed, as of the date of access (10.12.2014) the figures stood at 53% saying ‘yes’ and the remaining 47% voting ‘no’. The justification for voting ‘no’ all seems to stem from a lack of diversity, removal of culture and the difficulty of enforcing such a regulation. Those who placed a ‘yes’ vote went on to reason that English was already on its way and that it was an easy language to learn and gave shocking disregard for non-native speakers of the language.
