The film offers good and awkward moments in equal measure in the tale of an out-of-place "elf" searching for his real father and trying to reignite the Christmas spirit. There’s been a lot of hatred and prejudice clogging the news outlets during winter, even during a time of year when a large percentage of the world is supposed to be celebrating the arrival of Christmas and flurries of warm, fuzzy thoughts. Even if you’re not celebrating Christmas, there are still plenty of reasons to have warm, fuzzy thoughts. And the warm fuzzes, you know, can cross cultures, languages, climates, and skin colors. They can be profound, too, or silly. In the midst of so much intolerance and confusion, of bitterness and cynicism, I feel, once again, that a little bit of a good movie can do a lot to bring to mind the silliness of war and the healing power of peace and understanding, even under the most ridiculous of circumstances. Which is why, today, I recommend—seriously—the movie Elf.

Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939) and It’s a Wonderful Life (1946) are two critically acclaimed, feel good films that embodied the spirit of the mid 1900s. Director Frank Capra carries his feel good tone in each of these films, and shows that good will always triumph.

In 2003, many people would have never thought that Elf would be as great of a success as it is today. Elf is a once in a generation Christmas movie that includes clever and humorous jokes as well as hits the soft spot of much of the audience This comedy may seem cheesy to many but as the story takes off you will not want to leave your seat. From people getting hit by taxis to elves getting into fist fights with Santa, this totally unpredictable movie will keep you laughing for 97 minutes. You will have a hard time keeping up with the movie because you will spend so much time catching your breath. Once you watch the movie once, it will turn into a Christmas tradition for years to come.

The documentary ‘Happy’ was probably one of the best documentaries I have ever watched. It is a documentary on what truly makes people around the world happy. The movie takes you through true stories of the lives of all kinds of people with different life situations within the entire world. Through each individual story it shows how even though they may have gone or are going through tough situations, they still remain happy with life itself.

Many people do not have the chance to live out their dream; a sundry amount have to settle for more attainable goals. Future presidents became dentists and rock stars turn into nurses. There is a limited population who can walk up every morning completely satisfied with their life path; McTeague is one of the lucky few. He is a man who took the remnants of his deceased mother’s wealth and pursued his dream. Some might fantasize of bigger homes or fancier cars, but McTeague dreamed of a little dental parlor. His dream of starting up a business can seem rather small, but McTeague is content with his one shop. “The Happy Movie” is a very persuasive documentary that's full of storytelling and pathos. It seems like the director, Roko Belic, took Jay Heinrichs book and dulled down the intensity of his argument strategies. Happy uses over twenty of Jay’s argument tools all throughout the movie. The movie just goes into your heart and pulls on your heartstrings. This movie proves its point through stories from people with no money, people who has had loads of money, people who have suffered many tragedies, and different doctors in the field of the brain and happiness. He also uses multiple rhetorical strategies that are presented in “Thank You For Arguing” to prove his point that happiness is the best thing for everyone.

It shows us that we can achieve anything as long us we put our minds to it. It is an eye-opener that tells us we should do the best in everything we do. After all, we are the masters of our own lives, in a final analysis.
