Leaders are people that challenge a person to be the best they can be. A leader is a person that uses encouragement to bring out the best in a person, and will pull someone through a difficult phase in life. A leader is someone that takes a person’s weakness and makes it a strength. I met four such people this year. It is my opinion that these four people are very worthy leaders. It is often said that the best leaders need no recognition. These four people though worthy of a medal, at the end of the day will receive no such prize. What they do get are eager students ready to learn each and every school day. I am a sixth grader at Mountain View Intermediate School. I am just like every other student in my block because I love my teachers. I am different because of why I love them. My parents think I have dyslexia. Dyslexia is a learning disability that causes words to look different, and even move off of the page while you are reading. I have trouble with b’s and d’s when I write. I have trouble reading easy words like was and saw. I have always done well enough in school that testing me for this learning disability was not an option. I will not say that other teachers have not helped me, but there is something different about the four teachers I have this year. I truly believe these four teachers have gone above and beyond the call of duty and that is why my sixth grade teachers at Mountain View Intermediate School can be called worthy leaders. My teachers, Mrs. Shatley,
Within the past year, teachers at my little sister’s school have started suspecting that she may have dyslexia. She has yet to be tested, but it will be happening soon. She has always had issues with reading, but never thought this would be why. However, if the tests come back, and they do say that she has dyslexia, that is not going to hold her down. She will still be able to conquer anything that she sets her mind to. Having a disability does not hold any person back from being able to succeed anything they want to. With the proper help, instruction and motivation, any student with a disability can be successful. Being different does not make you incapable. That is also something that I got from the PowerPoints.
Leaders are someone that can be a positive influence in anyone’s life. Leaders are someone that people look up to and remember that person throughout his or her lives. The leader
In the schools and also the community we need more leaders. Being a freshman of Lower Richland High school, I want to see students demonstrating more leadership. Often, I see student afraid to say no to peer pressure from other students. I want to see students leading by example. We need more leaders in this community, and less followers. In this essay I will discuss characteristic that describe a good leader, and what I want to see change in my community. .
Before now, I never really thought about being a leader. I always believed a leader was someone at the top, making decisions like a general in the army. The summit gave me a lot different perspectives on what a leader actually is. One thing that was said that really stuck with me was, “your college degree isn’t just for you. It is also for all those who come after you.” It was then that I really understood what a leader is. A leader is one who works their hardest to become the best person they can be, so they can set an example for others and help those who come after them.
A leader takes diligent time in considering the ability to adhere to other people’s interests and presents their followers with a positive mindset. This summer, I accepted an invitation to participate in the Dale Carnegie Young Adult Leadership Program. Attendees of this program learned several skills that can be applied to future experiences, especially on how to become an effective leader. Everyday, the attendees acted as leaders by accomplishing various tasks that forced them to reach out of their comfort zones. We acted as leaders by leading group
A true leader stands high on on the pillars of success: dedication, servitude, respectability, and honesty. The mark of a fulfilled life is not one who has collected many awards, not one who has an insurmountable amount of money and fame, it is one who has touched the most souls in his journey of life. A leader destined for greatness will touch many people along their journey to the top. In my short years on this Earth I have made it my mission from the start to leave a lasting impact on everyone I come in contact with and as a student of Howard University I will continue my mission without fault. From birth my parents noticed I had an insatiable thirst for knowledge, a heart of gold and an unconquerable ability to lead. In the 5th grade I was awarded the
"Leaders are people who are able to express themselves fully they know who they are, what their strengths and weaknesses are, and how to fully deploy their strengths and compensate for their weaknesses. They also know what they want, why they want it, and how to communicate what they want to others in order to gain their cooperation and support. Finally they know how to achieve their goals" (Ingram, 2004).
be a leader. A leader is someone who brings several people together to accomplish a common goal. A leader possesses the motivation and determination to achieve the said goal. It is easy to recognize a leader like LeBron James, the basketball star for the Cleveland Cavaliers, or JT Barrett, the starting quarterback and team captain for the Ohio State Buckeyes. Both James and Barrett motivate and drive their teams to work hard and strive to win. However, it might be more difficult to recognize a leader in your personal life; fortunately for me that was not the case. A leader and mentor that I looked up to was my softball coach Heather. Heather was already an extremely effective leader from my vantage point through sports, but through my interview with her I learned that she is a leader in all aspects of her life.
Leader: “A leader is a person willing to show others what to do, someone who influences others to follow to achieve a goal. You have to have a vision or there is no goal to achieve. I have to be able to direct and take direction from my subordinates to be an effective leader. A leader is honest, dependable, caring, and knowledgeable, listens to ideas from other team mates, and is available to answer questions or just listen to problems whether work related or personal.”
What does it mean to be a leader? Is a leader someone who can take control when a firm hand is needed? Or perhaps it is the man who is willing to stand up for what he believes in. I used to think of leaders as impressive and impeccable meta-humans. They were men and women who I thought were simply cut from a different cloth and beyond someone like me. Now I believe that a true leader, is that special someone who is willing to get up early and start making breakfast. I believe the hero takes the two-minute walk to find fresh water. During my time at NOLS Patagonia I was able to tune into what it truly meant to lead your peers. When I entered college with the mindset of tackling freshman year, I found myself unprepared for the workload.
For many years, I have been told by teachers, family, and friends that I am a good leader. Until fairly recently, I had never truly thought about what it means to be a good leader and just took it as a compliment. Leadership is an intangible concept which cannot be properly outlined in a dictionary, but one which must be formed and explained only through one’s own philosophies and experiences.
Leadership is something that people are born with. It is an inherent charm and it doesn’t hide even if you want to hide it. There is a leader amongst us and he or she is the one that leads other people to great things by inspiring and motivating people to do good deeds. Leadership has been described as “a process of social influence in which one person can enlist the aid and support of others in the accomplishment of a common task”. This way a leader can decide what work goes in and goes out. Good leaders in history have left a mark in walks of life. But great leaders, they’re different. Great leaders have the ability to make each and every individual re-think their life decisions and choices by
Leaders are very important and and every action they make possibly affect even one person to be more inspired and help them after watching a leader speak. I remember from experience, this one time everyone had to read their speech they wrote in front of the whole class and this was my first time doing it. I was worried that I wouldn't be good enough at talking in front of everyone, but then one of my fellow students went first and showed me I wouldn't have to be worried. That person inspired me and was a good example of a leader.
Being a leader does not necessarily mean having a big title. A leader is someone who has a positive attitude no matter what issues are passing by. Not only is it your attitude towards issues but towards people too. How can you expect people to follow when you know what to do to solve the problem but you don’t know how to lead the people? Being a leader is not a simple task, but it is not something you choose to be, it just comes naturally.
A leader is a person who takes risks, attempts to achieve shared goals, and inspires others to action (Marquis & Huston,
