AAEP Personal Statement

I have made a contribution to the AVID program by spreading all the wonderful things AVID teaches you to my friends and relatives also how it can change your life positively. I have spoken with many friends as to why they should be considering the AVID program in high school in order for them to gain knowledge and learn important college factors so that when they move on they won’t have a difficult time in college. This contribution may not seem as much but I have also tried my hardest to earn a good grade for all the years that I have been taken AVID not only for a grade in the class but for others to see what I have learned throughout all the years that I have been in AVID program and what it can do to improve high school students who want to attend college and become successful trying to reach their goals and dreams.

With a deep passion in education in both learning and teaching others, I will plan to enrich the classroom experience. Furthermore, I contribute an active voice to the Honors Program that will allow me to lead class discussions, and be able to present to anybody on campus. Lastly, by taking the lead and becoming a role model for volunteering in our community, I will inspire my peers to lend a hand, enriching both the Honors Program and our community. Therefore, I expect to be a powerful positive force on campus through exemplifying a model student in the Honors

Coming from a Latino household, I’ve learned that anything is achievable – there are no walls nor boundaries to stop me from reaching my goals. Whenever it came to achieving something in school, I could hear my father’s words “si se puede” – meaning “you can do it” – playing in my head. So long as I believed I could excel and go beyond in my studies, I felt that I could open doors of opportunities for myself.

I believe my cumulative employment, education, and life experiences, as well as my passions, and vocational direction have uniquely gifted and prepared me to excel in the AGACNP program at South Carolina and to become a compassionate, skilled, servant to my city. I believe strongly in an incarnational and missiological modality of medicine as it relates to nursing, and I am confident that my skills, coupled with Carolina’s uniquely crafted program will enable me to serve a grossly under-served population, and further the field of advanced practice nursing through effective practice which utilizes the most current evidence to improve care. As a freshman at the University of Maryland, I am pursuing a Masters degree in Computer Science with a specialization in Cyber Security. I formerly attended the Academy of Health Sciences at Prince George’s Community College, a dual enrollment program in which I graduated with my High school diploma and an Associates of Arts degree in General Studies. Having a unique experience by attending these different school has allowed me to become familiar with technical communication in a multitude of ways, whether it is in the work place or school related. Being vice president of the national honor society, being a barista at Peet’s coffee shop, and with being fluent in multiple languages I have used technical communication to encourage people to “take action” in a multitude of ways. Whether it was influencing people to join the national honors society or trying to get customers to buy a new coffee drink, I have consistently been able to encourage others to “take action” with whatever it may be. Over time I have learned the do’s and don’ts of being a technical communicator, and I now understand what must be done to accomplish a task through technical communication.

My Mission to Better the Community I am honored to be among the top students with an opportunity to be involved in National Honor Society. This shows that I have achieved my goal of demonstrating my determination and willingness to give back to the community. I believe I represent a distinguished character with academic initiative, leadership qualities, and I am a superior representative of Southeast Polk High School. I feel my eagerness to do well in life helps prove my exemplary character.

I am genuinely honored to be one of the few students considered for acceptance to the State College Area High School chapter of the National Honor Society. I feel that my hard work and dedication in academics is beginning to show through. Throughout my life, I have shown drive and devotion for everything in which I have been involved, ranging from athletics to academics. My mentality has always been focused on helping others. For this reason, I aspire to become an orthopedic surgeon so that my career will evolve around helping others to get the most out of their lives. I am pleased and honored to have the opportunity to forego with the process of becoming a National Honor Society member. The National Honor Society’s main goal is be involved and to better the community in various ways. For example, the organization works to serve the community, tutor students, and be leaders within the school. The members put their self interests aside and work to better the lives of everyday people in their community. I believe I am ready to join and help with the endless opportunities that the National Honor Society has to offer. Becoming a member of NHS has been a goal of mine since I entered the halls of Brick Township High School. I fully understand that it takes hard work and dedication in order to become a member but I know that I greatly exhibit those traits not only in school but also in my outside activities. This is a rare opportunity that can only happen in high school and I know that I am ready to be apart of something special.

I was born the fourth of December 1991 in Cranbrook British Columbia. I lived there for 18 years. Before joining the military I worked as a fry cook at a Burger King for three years and held part time jobs working for the College of the Rockies summer camp programs during the summer. My parents are currently living together in Cranbrook BC. My father works outside the province testing railway tracks for two months at a time, then returns home for two to three weeks. My mother acts as the main contact point of the family, she works as a financial clerk. I have a 22 year old sister who will be attending university in Calgary this September. I attended Mount Baker Secondary School in Cranbrook and graduated in 2009

During my first five years of practice, I want my roles to be that of helper, educator, professional, and researcher. As I progress through the profession, I will be assisting clients in accomplishing their goals while educating them in ways to do so effectively in a professional manner. In congruence with this, I also hope to do neurological research on individuals with neurological conditions and sensory integration of premature infants.

Combined BA/MD programs are often singularly focused with an intense pace and rigorous coursework. In my eyes, they are beauteous opportunities, suitable for both my skills and my goals. Being part of a combined medicine program would not only provide me with the motivation to continue challenging myself, but also offer me the freedom to explore my other interests, and in turn receive a more well-rounded foundation for specialist medical training.

CU Boulder is an institution that prides itself on its diversity and ingenuity. Much like CU, I believe myself to be an innovator and see the world through a different lens. I've never embodied the American dream of being a white, Protestant male with a suburban home and a white picket fence, but I’ve embodied how to be Boulder-bound. I've built my confidence from the ground up, I’ve gone beyond my limits to test my ability to achieve great things, my intellect has gotten me far in my education, my intestinal fortitude has opened the doors to great opportunities, and I’ve accomplished it while being a double minority.

I'm a guy from Sweden who's interested in both Harry Potter and astronomy, and therefore I'd like to apply to become an assistant teacher in the subject Astronomy. I've been a member for seven months, I've graded a lot of assignments and also done several assignments myself, so I'm kind of experienced with homework. When I grade I focus on whether or not the student has answered the questions and if all the requirements are met. If given a grade below Outstanding, I always include what the student should've done to get a higher grade.

I write in pursuit of becoming a teaching assistant for EG-1003 beginning this fall. I seek this position wishing to further develop my skills in communication and collaboration. Furthermore, I would admire watching student creativity in action when they work in the labs and interacting with others when helping them solve problems. I believe my previous experience and personality enable me to be an effective teaching assistant.

I have a wide range of skills and knowledge that I have acquired throughout my personal and professional life. I can communicate with different types of people regardless of age, race or class. I have accessed a huge range of courses that have enabled me to develop interpersonal skills including negotiation and dealing with different types of people and personalities. I also have the knowledge, drive and enthusiasm to work alone when required as I am self-motivated and can meet targets and deadlines. I believe that challenges are best met positively by developing and improving knowledge and skills and through professional reflective dialogue that leads to change. I am very hard-working and reliable. I work well under pressure achieving a high standard of work. I have practical and organisational skills and I can find solutions to problems and face challenges confidently.
