Certainly, this client has the ability to overcome her stressful responsibilities at work if one of her strengths in organization. The ABC model of personality helps the client change their negative emotions towards the situation and visualize it from a different angle, such as Heather’s workload. Since she enjoys being organized, the counselor and her can created an organized “to-do” list at work. This will assist her in looking at the stressful situation from a different angle. To help reduce stress for myself, even through I know its quite common practice for most managers I would write down a list of all my tasks and then put them in priority order according to timescales, importance and whether I could or could not delegate the task I would also consider how long they might take, having a list especially when I am feeling stressed helps me focus and ticking areas off can have a positive effect on me as the list reduces.
Using a strength-based approach to help my client will help her recognize her strengths and abilities. Once someone can recognize this, they can realize they have the capacity for growth and change (Hicks, S. 2010). My client was not able to attend a post secondary education, so her self-worth may be decreased. In society, we are judged based on our grades and what level of degree we have in school; because she

This paper discusses how high job strain and low job control is associated with a change in weight for all workers, no matter their age, gender, or profession. High job strain and low control cause stress for workers, which in turn can lead them to change their eating habits. The more stress the worker is under the unhealthier food they start consuming. Modest weight gain on its own is not too bad. However, high stress with little control in changing the situation often leads to obesity. Obesity can cause many health problems. In order to prevent these possible risks, some researchers have suggested that workers should develop a coping mechanism. Some coping mechanisms include engaging in physical activities, and getting support from others like their co-workers to help them de-stress after work.
Adapting and grading can enhance Ruby’s occupational performance and allow her overcome her restrictions in dish washing. The technique of grading and adapting the activities will be used to challenge Ruby. These activities involves collecting the dishes as well as washing them in a given time. This would require her to organise different types of plates while increasing her fine motor coordination and dexterity (Radomski & Latham, 2013). Ruby often gets frustrated when other co-workers demand more of her, therefore she has to learn coping skills for managing emotions (AOTA, 2002).This can enhance her communication and collaboration as well as the relationship between her and her co-workers. Making the activity easier by adapting involves attaching
The Behavioral/ Physical/ Neurological quadrant indicates what factors in your client’s life may be preventing and negatively impacting their ability to perform at their highest potential. How your client diets, stress factors, their intake of supplements, alcohol, and drugs usage all have the capacity to affect and contribute to the challenges they may face in their daily lives. “A person’s overall mental health, learning capabilities, and behaviors are all affected by the proper functioning of neurons, synaptic process, neurotransmitters, neural networks, and different brain parts.” (16) The response to stress differs widely among individuals who are more vulnerable to stress some seem able to manage their stress in healthy ways, while others
Most of us may ask our self, what ages does schizophrenia start to develop and who get this disorder? Well most of who get them are the man than women’s. Faustman suggests, “that even that may represent the risk factor for schizophrenia occurs in life or even before birth”. The essence of faustman’s argument is that some children may have already developed schizophrenia before he/she was born. Schizophrenia occurs in all national groups around the world. According to the national institute of mental health, “Symptoms such as hallucinations and delusions usually start between 16 and 30. Males tend to experience symptoms a little earlier than females”. In other words, most suffer from schizophrenia occurs in late adolescence and early adulthood.
The "three C's" - Choice, Change and Confusion - are usually the factors that can cause a person to feel overwhelmed with events surrounding him/her and not knowing where to turn. Choice - not knowing where to turn or what steps to take next. E.g. a student not having achieved the expected grades may find themselves in a turmoil as they may not be able to decide what to do next. Change - an unexpected change in a person's life e.g. bereavement, divorce, redundancy - can cause the person significant difficulties including stress, anxiety and depression. Confusion - a client may not understand why they are feeling distressed, anxious or depressed even if they know the reason that led them to feel the way
Thinking about the most stressful thing that occurred this year was challenging. I found t primary appraisal to be the most difficult because at the time, I could not identify the exact stressor. Thinking back to this stressful time I realized that without any knowledge of Lazarus model I was able to move through each step of the appraisals. Secondary appraisal, during this difficult time I did not understand how much control I had over the situation. Since I have been through therapy for many years, I thought that I was coping with my stressors in a healthy way, but I was wrong. I did everything to avoid my stressors and did not use my resources. My behavior of avoiding my problem at hand stop by a resource reaching out to me. I was able
I try to demonstrate a positive attitude and behavior, responsibility, and adaptability at work. I demonstrate a positive attitude and behaviour throughout every task I do. If my supervisor asks me how the task is going, I never say its impossible and that I can't do it, I always reply with its a little challenging but I think I will be able to do it. I demonstrate responsibility and adaptability through out the different types of projects I do. For each project, there is a different workflow and I have to adapt to that workflow. I demonstrate responsibility throughout the day by completing tasks on time, without the need for my supervisor to remind
Stress management and self-soothing techniques are critical for surviving modern work—no matter the focus of the work. Psychotherapists tend to disregard their
Dialysis work can be very rewarding. However, at times, it can also be full of stress and strain. According to Kersten et al. (2014), the primary reason for this stress and strain is due to the day-to-day contact with the same chronically ill patients with compounding medical issues. Also, a contributing factor is the corporate squeeze the higher management puts on its employees to increase productivity with less manpower and resources. This pressure is due to the lack of efficiency by most dialysis units (Ozgen and Ozcan 2002). The importance of the findings of this study relates directly to the fact that the number of patients needing dialysis is thought to significantly rise in the future. An increase in complex disease processes leading to renal failure, such as diabetes, will lead to this potential growth. Therefore, it is vital that direct patient care employees in dialysis remain encouraged and emotionally strong so they can remain in their occupation for as long as feasible.
