NOTES: Point: The shape of Arisa's village is shaped roughly like a circle. The first attack hit the northern tip of the village, so they devided the border into sixty 'points' like those on a clock. During an attack, one soldier remains at each point in case they come from another direction. Flare Sights: In each of the four directions there is a wooden platform in a tree. They usually have whatever supplies a soldier would need (maps, food/water, etc). The duty of those stationed there is to alert the rest of the village during an attack, and direct soldiers to the general area of the first flare (as demonstrated by Elvey). Them/Creatures/Shadows: Strange beings made of cloud-like, light-absorbing darkness. Their only weakpoint is a light …show more content…

Through her education, she gets to stand to own her own and a bold feminist in the society. He embraces politics in the family and advocates for civil rights. Towards the end of the play, Beneatha completely embraces Asagai and takes George out of her choices. She even considers studying medicine in Africa, and that transforms her from thinking of being a white to the recognition of her real identity as a real African lady. In Fences, she can be compared to Cory who was dedicated to being a footballer and worked in a Grocery during his free times (Wilson).
As Beneatha describes the profound moment when she decided to become a doctor, her admirable, although childlike, determination and refusal to set limits on her future is illustrated. Beneatha says while discussing her dream, “...that was what one person could do for another, fix him up-sew up the problem, make him alright again. That was the most marvelous thing in the world...I wanted to do that. I always thought it was the one concrete thing in the world that a human being could do. Fix up the sick, you know - and make them whole again. This was truly being God…” (131). As Beneatha describes her dream with conviction, it is apparent how the decision to pursue her dream was created with faith in the practice, unconcerned with the efforts
Humanity has always been fascinated with the journey of heroic individuals; indeed, American children grow up hearing the tales of tiny hobbits traveling across continents to destroy an artifact of great evil or the tale of three wise men who travel from afar to see the birth of their deity. In Yuri Herrera’s novella Signs Preceding the End of the World, readers witness another journey to a strange land fraught with peril for our heroine Makina, a Mexican woman on a journey to find and bring her brother back from the United States of America. Looking at her journey, Makina follows in the same tradition as other heroes like Orpheus and Odysseus, who also plunge themselves into the dangerous underworld. For American

Character Analysis: Adah A. Adah is the twin of Lea and the lesser of the sisters. She had complications in the womb that restricted her from developing correctly, so one half of her body is paralysed. Living with her family of devout baptists, Adah seems to be the clear outlier in her family. She is, for all intents and purposes, sinister. She has a strange ability to equate parallels in word.
Are culture and religion the same? Some may say yes and others may disagree and I believe that culture is in religion. When talking about culture and religion, I am referring to what we talked about in class when we said that culture is a group environment, has customs, and norms that people follow and then we said that religion is beliefs, has an outside force with internal impact, guided morals, and metaphysics. As you can tell, religion and culture sound similar but are they really? In this paper I will be talking about how religion and culture shape gender norms, how they both shape societal gender norms, and if it is right for culture and religion to shape who we as people have become.

A child psychiatrist or a qualified mental health professional usually takes the observations of parents and teachers into consideration before making a diagnoses of conduct disorders in children and adolescents. According to Parent—Child Interaction and Conduct Disorder, “ a detailed history of the child's behavior from parents and teachers, observations of the child's behavior, and, sometimes, psychological testing contribute to the diagnosis” (Gardner, 1992). Overall, as with many mental health illnesses, researchers believe that a long, random, sequenced list of experiences occur in the development of conduct disorder. As this paper points out, this sequence may start with academic failure, unsuccessful parenting practices, and poor social
