AB299: Final Project Section # 01 07/09/2011 Executive Summary This section provides an overview of your findings. This section should be no more than half a page at the most but a paragraph that is about 6-8 sentences is about the right length. This summarizes everything you wrote about in your report. This is also the conclusion for your report. If a business person didn’t have time to read an entire report or business plan, the Executive Summary should be the overview of the information. Tim’s coffee shop has the potential of being a very profitable business. This business has a great location and a large pool of good employees. Tim’s advantage is that he has a great pool of employees from which to pull from, but he needs to weed out the problematic ones. The other issue that needs to be addressed is that Tim’s managers and supervisors are not being motivating enough. By Tim choosing the same employee of the month repeatedly he is discouraging others from trying. Employee of the month needs to change so that one an employee is chosen they cannot be chosen again for another 6 months. This way everyone can feel like they have a fair chance. Action Items: Based on your analysis, tell Tim what you recommend. Your recommendations should contain detailed directions of what needs to be done and when. Also, you should defend your recommendations by providing references that support your ideas. Address: the vision statement, short term and long term goals, federal and state compliance issues that he would need to follow. He may or may not be following some of these. First, establish with employees that Tim is creating a more competitive team where everyone is expected to perform as better forms of themselves. Tim should explain the new warning system, and follow it through when employees are not complying. Having employees that do not fit the expectations of the team will only create problems, and bring the employees morale down. Secondly, Tim’s managers should begin acting less like employees and more like great leaders. “A leader should
An executive summary is a short section of a document that summarizes a longer report in such a way that readers can rapidly become acquainted with a large body of material without having to read it all. It will usually contain a brief statement of what is covered in the major document, background information, concise analysis and main conclusions.
I agree with Danny’s philosophy to only hire people that he sees being one of the top three workers in their role. If they cannot even rise to be part of the top three at any point in their career there, what is the point in even hiring them? Why hire a worker that you feel is at best mediocre? Workers should be hired when the expectation for their performance exceeds that of all other workers in the company. Danny also talks about the concept of a “whelming” candidate. See, with an overwhelmingly qualified candidate you know that they will excel at their job and will do great things in their role. With an underwhelmingly qualified candidate they will either quit or be fired for underperforming. The issue with a “whelming” candidate is that they are completely average. They won’t go on to excel in their role, they won’t do great things, but they also avoid underperforming to the point of demoting or firing them. They are simply dead weight, and the biggest problem is they are often only uncovered by the time they have been working in their position for quite a while already.
After carefully analyzing your Coffee Shoppe, I have found several aspects that are considered strengths and weaknesses. Tim’s Coffee Shoppe has already established its presence in the busy downtown area of Sunnydale, Illinois. Your shop is located by a large college and Horvath and Arbanes Station, which are major bus stations. The shops’ location is great because of the steady traffic flow throughout the day and it is accessible from several parts of town. The shop is lacking a few technological updates as well as organization. From my analysis, I concluded that only accepting payments in the form of cash is making you lose some of your

On April 4, 2011, the Governor of California Edmund G. Brown signed AB 109. Signing this bills redefined felonies and also gives responsibilities to watching over certain criminals and parolees who live in the State or County Prisons. "Public Safety Realignment Act" also know as AB 109 is commonly grouped with bills AB 117 and AB 118 which prevents anyone who commits a Non-Violent Crime, Non-serious, Non-sex offender after the day of October 1 in the year 2011, would no longer be sent to state prison and will instead be placed in a County jail. Anyone who is going to be released from the state prison for committing any of the previous mentioned crimes, will now be placed under supervision of a local County Probation Department and with a state parole officer.
A benefit of AB109 is that everyone in society will be able to find solutions in order to guarantee safety for everyone as well has offering several programs as a resource for training offenders. I understand that corrections is consuming a lot of money and that training offenders is costly which is why I can see how it could become a challenge but it is also an opportunity to bring ex-offenders back into society. Thus, ex-offenders will now know how to work in a certain place because they have experience, knowledge, and abilities to succeed in a real life job because of the training that they received thanks to the programs offered because of the AB 109. Thanks to all of the programs offered ex-offenders that want to turn their life around to become a good citizen in the community will hopefully have more opportunities for him or her to be able to turn from a criminal delinquent or offender to a well educated, hard working, and wanting to succeed citizen of society. This therefore will case a decreasing rate of reoffender violations for the community because these individuals want to better themselves.
It is always good to summarise at the start as to what the report is about, its purpose and what is discussed. You
Overall, Bloom’s constituents will receive AB-2844 well. Assemblyman Bloom represents the 50th Assembly District of the State of California. The amended version of AB-2844 does not affect his constituents directly in the way that a bill on road repair would. This means that his constituents will not see the effects of this bill in their daily lives and thus are less likely to have strong opinions on it. Additionally, the amount of money this bill proposes to spend is insignificant when taking into consideration California’s budget, making the fiscal aspect of the bill a non-issue. Furthermore, the current form of this bill prevents public institutions from conducting business with entities that discriminate based on nationality. Majority of
Currently, Tim Hortons is one of the largest fast food restaurants in Canada that offers a range of products to appeal a wide range of consumer preferences at reasonably attractive prices. The company’s product line consists of multiple categories which are hot and cold beverages, breakfast, lunch, and snacks. However, I would recommend Tim Horton’s make menu improvements and increases regarding beverages. They can increase the cold and hot beverage variety, especially the tea category as they have limited tea collections by adding products such as herbal, loose, and oolong teas. They should also consider adding chamomile and cinnamon beverages. This will ensure that its customer base will not become bored with the same products and to attract new consumers.

The competition is encroaching on the coffee shop but the competition is a chain. Tim has the ability to make his coffee shop an individual coffee shop
CoffeeVille has been experiencing consistent growth in sales and numbers of customers over the last two years. This growth has led to a need for a second floor manager who is able to manage customer complaints, take responsibility for higher level café operations and manage staff performance.
Starbucks faces a difficult and controversial management challenge. The company’s most recent market research has revealed unexpected findings implicating that Starbuck is not always meeting customer’s expectations in the area of customer satisfaction. The purpose of this memo is to analyze and provide recommendation on whether or not the company should go forth with a $40 million investment in additional labor in the stores. This $40 million investment is necessary in order to bring service time down to a three-minute interval and ultimately increase customer satisfaction. A marketing strategy and corresponding recommendation will be provided for your approval.
Starbucks’ shares have grown more than 1500% over the past decade. Financially, it has been an oak tree in an ever changing economy with customers that have ever changing demands. However, there has been increased concern for the financial viability of the coffee shop a recently announced plan to close down over 600 stores that were said to be underperforming domestically. That means that more than 1,000 jobs will be eliminated. As scary as that is on the local front to top management, the executive staff feels that it is the only way to recover from it’s shocking $108.7M loss for the 2nd quarter this fiscal year.
I believe you learn about leadership by acting as an example. You should be prepared to do the things you are asking others to do by getting on your hands and knees, if need be, and get your hands dirty. This engraves a picture into the mind of an employee or subordinate to what type of a manager you are. In this paper, I will cover the role a manager plays in an organization describing four functions of management: planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. I will then describe three traits: conceptual, human, and technical, which an individual must possess to become a successful manager within an organization and how they fit in with the four functions.
