“ Friends are the bacon bits in the salad bowl of life” (By anonymous) Abby Scheer and I have known each other since 6th grade, but started to become best friends at the end of 7th grade and through 8th grade. I can trust Abby and talk to her about anything and everything. Abby Eve Scheer is humorous, nice, quirky and so much more. First of all, Abby Scheer is humorous because she always makes me and everyone else around laugh. She also loves tacos and watches, singing and dancing videos about them. When someone feels upset Abby always cheers them up no matter what. And in the middle of class she will start to listen to her taco song. Second, Abby is also nice, kind, and generous. Whenever I need help with homework or anything Abby is always
Not only is she an excellent academic student, but she also brought life to the band at Ashley High School. Whoever would sit next to her would be very lucky, not just because she is an amazing saxophonist but she also has a quick wit
Jenna is also always there if you need someone to talk to or advice. Although she is only a few years older than me, her high school experience definitely helped me through freshman year.
Joseph Conrad once said, “It is the mark of an inexperienced man not to believe in luck”. Nailer, the main character of Paolo Bacigalupi’s book Ship Breaker, wasn’t born lucky, he was born a ship breaker. Ship breakers are child and adult laborers who spend their days starving, poor, and working away to take the anything valuable off old ships for the big companies. Throughout Nailer’s life, he has suffered through various unfortunate events. However, with a strong belief of luck and having other superstitions, his life becomes more manageable. In Ship Breaker, Paolo Bacigalupi demonstrates that being superstitious and believing in various degrees of luck allows people to more easily feel in control of uncontrollable situations.
Allie Latimer is a woman to be celebrated. According to www.thehistorymakers.org, www.thewomenshalloffame, and www.theamericanbar.org, She accomplished many things in her lifetime and is still doing so. She contributed to civil rights, working conditions, and many other things that changed society. She was put into the Women’s Hall of Fame in 2009, and is currently 89 years old. With three resources I used, I was able to write many of the accomplishments she has done in her lifetime.
Sara McEnterfer was a graduate of Battle Creek College school of nursing. Her influence on the profession of nursing is primarily an extrapolation of the work she did in caring for, not only, Ellen G White but as a "community nurse" and "private duty nurse". She, personally, would have been influenced by some of the forerunners in the Adventist health revolutio . Healing without drugs was the focus of Battle Creek College. Curing mind and body and soul.
I was born on November 22nd of 1999 in Beruwala, Sri Lanka into a wonderful family. When I was seven years old, my home was destroyed by the tsunami and my family got the chance to move to Canada. When I heard the word Canada for the first time, only three words came to my mind; snow, cold and igloo. Later I learned that there was much more to this country. Before coming to Canada, I was really happy as I waved goodbye to my grandparents, my relatives, and my homeland. Unfortunately, I did not realize that it would be the last time that I would see all of them. Since arriving in Canada, I have attended a French elementary school in Montreal named Barthelemy- Vimont from grade two to four. As my parents wanted me to know both bilingual languages, we moved
Abby Blanding, unrepentant geek and “white hat” computer hacker, has had it with blind dates arranged by her mother. Ignoring the adage, “Be careful what you wish for,” Abby makes a wish for a break in her mother’s matrimonial machinations and discovers fairy tales are real - and they should come with a warning label.
The most effective figurative language technique that the poet utilizes in the Inchcape Rock is alliteration. Alliteration is the use of repeating consonant sounds at the beginning of words close together in order to facilitate narration. A few examples of alliteration from the poem are:
That started conversations on what she likes to do, eat and wants to be when she grows up. This was a great icebreaker to get to know each other; because I did one as well so she could get to know me as well this was an idea I got from the book Creating Welcoming Schools by JoBeth Allen. Getting to know our students helps us as educators get to know their funds of knowledge and what they bring to the classroom. Some of the strengths of Abigail is she is a leader. She helps other students who are ELs by translating to students who speak little to no English. Her personality is hard not to love. She is always so funny and open with everyone and a friend with everyone. She loves to try new things, one day we were tracing letters and numbers in shaving cream. She loved every second of it! She was so excited to do something messy and hands on. She had a great time and had practiced her letters and numbers at the same time. She loved anything I planned she was very fun and easy to work
Technology can be cancerous and harmful to the human body. Everyone uses electronics daily, and that can take a toll on lives. Want to know what doesn’t harm us though? Books. Books take us into another world, fighting for our lives, traveling down the Mississippi River, getting engaged to a vampire, etc. all on some paper tied together. Reading books in school can be a huge hassle, but literature for pleasure will take me on a trip like no other. With such a large variety of books to choose from though, it can be difficult to know exactly what I’d want to read. A series I consider to be a good read is the Warriors series by Erin Hunter because of her expert plot development, action packed thrill rides, storyline, and quality.
Sam has a personality like no other, She is very kind, apologetic, empathetic, and caring. When we went to the pumpkin bowl dance I was late spent almost the entire dance not dancing with her, and She actually apologized to me for god knows what reason.
The person who has inspired me the most in life is my best friend Emily Bermudez. We’ve known each other since preschool. And she has always motivated me to do better academically since middle school and never gives up on me when times get tough. Whenever life gets hard she is always there for me and I can talk to her about what’s going on in my life. Emily is mentally and physically strong, she had always been a strong young lady:the super glue to our friendship. Academically, she is very successful and is currently ranked four out of one-hundred and fifty students at Noble Street College prep. Her success in school and extracurricular activities make me wish to be the best I can be. She has taught me some of the important things in life:
3/25/14 Tintern Abbey Five years have past; five summers, with the length Of five long winters! and again I hear These waters, rolling from their mountain-springs With a soft inland murmur.—Once again Do I behold these steep and lofty cliffs, That on a wild secluded scene impress Thoughts of more deep seclusion; and connect The landscape with the quiet of the sky.
Friends; the people whom we know, trust, and love. Friendship is an important part of all our lives, which is why I chose “True Friendship is Unconditional Love” as my credo. True friends will always support you, have your back, and pick you up when you are down. They are the people who, no matter the circumstances, will stay with you until the very end. Another reason I decided on this credo is because of my friends. They have always been there for me no matter what, through the ups and the downs, the thick and the thin. Without my friends, I would not be the person I am today; they have definitely changed me for the better. Since friendship is such a valuable aspect of life, it is also a commonly used theme in literature. Twelfth Night, a
At first glance you don’t see a warm and cuddly person, you see someone with a very stern face and mean attitude, but once you know her your view point just might change. Her personality is something that you would never think of for her. Man is she a nice person, she even works a preschool for early education because that’s how much she loves helping tiny children.
