The Wilson School District Board of Directors meets on the first and third Monday of each month to guide the operations of the district through six strategic vision planks. These planks seek to: improve upon or expand Wilson’s portfolio, grow Wilson regionally and nationally, increase organizational agility and capacity, engage in creative development of new and existing infrastructure, create a flatter organizational structure, and control for fiscal accountability. The following is a summary of the meeting which occurred on September 18, 2017, along with observations and conclusions from the perspective of a future district administrator.
Hello, and welcome to my e-portfolio! After teaching math for the last thirteen years, I have stepped into a new position. Currently, I am the Academic Dean at Pierre Moran Middle School, which is part of Elkhart Community Schools.
Prior to coming to Hoke County, Dr. Williamson had already served in a plethora of diverse roles in his educational career (e.g., teacher, assistant principal, vocational-educational director, principal, director of secondary and middle school education, director of personnel, associate superintendent, and a boys and girls basketball coach), therefore becoming a superintendent was inevitable; the school board knew he could advance the Hoke County’s School System, however the “key” was: he was a willing vessel.

The school board meeting I attended was the Norris School District. The meeting was located at Norris Middle School in the Mary Louise Robinson Library. The address was 6940 Calloway Dr. at seven PM. The Norris school district contains four elementary schools and one middle school. Total number of elected board members are five. The board president is Cy Silver. They meet once a month on the second Wednesday. The board is required to address the reports from superintendent and staff. Such as enrollment, district proposition 39 California clean energy job acts funding, district cafeteria report, local control accountability plan progress report. They also discuss new business such as approving budgets and achievements. The general format of the meeting is the board members sit in the front of the general attendees and the president sits in the middle of all the board members. Staff members sit to the right and left of the board members. The atmosphere was very welcoming, and they spoke of the business like they actually cared.
When dealing with larger school districts, there are several different positions in which play vital roles in the success of the school ‘s in the county. Deputy superintendent, chief financial officers, executive directors, and chief technology officer, are the crucial four. From there smaller roles are delegated to address issues based on needs and situations that may happen with schools, students teachers and
Serving the district was a job Ritchie said was enjoyable. “You have a fantastic school district, and I am extremely impressed with the students and staff. I was fortunate to work with the board, which is truly focused on what is best for the district and community. You are in able hands moving forward.”
Honest. Honest was the first characteristic that stood out to Superintendent/Principal, Mr. Ambrose Duckett, III. Mr. Duckett has served at Eastampton Community School for eight years as the Assistant Principal, Director of Instruction, Technology, and Curriculum. He also served as the Districts Affirmative Action Officer and Anti-Bullying Coordinator. The 2016-2017 marks Mr. Duckett’s first years as the Superintendent/Principal.While Mr. Duckett holds many jobs and “where many hats”, his most rewarding aspect of them all is achieving students success through improving test scores.
Every school district has board meetings throughout the school year. Unfortunately, many parents, community members, & school personnel do not attend such important meetings because they don’t realize or understand the importance of such board meetings or how informative they can be. According to Kankakee School District (2017), the Kankakee School District Board of Education is composed of seven elected members, who were elected by the citizens of Kankakee to serve a four-year term that do not receive no salary for they services, are committed to ensuring a quality of educational excellence that will enhance the opportunities and challenges facing today’s student and additional responsibilities that board members include are selection of the District superintendent, developing general polices according to wishes of the community and requirements of law, hiring school personnel based upon recommendation of the Superintendent and the Assistant Superintendent of Personnel, adopts salary schedules, approves funds to finance school operations, must adopt and review the annual operating budget for the District, and setting the property tax levy to produce adequate funds to meet the District’s financial needs ranks among the responsibilities of the Board of Education (Retrieved from https://www.ksd111.org/domain/68). For this paper, the Kankakee School District board meeting will be used, information learned from board meeting, use of
As an experienced and energetic teacher at Picadome Elementary for the past 17 years, I am committed to high quality education for all children despite gender, socio-economic levels, race, ethnicities, and learning capabilities. I have sought leadership opportunities including serving on the SBDM and being chairperson of both the Budget and Needs Assessment committees. I worked closely with the Picadome leadership team and other SBDM members to ensure that budget decisions were based on achievement data and would increase student learning.
With Mr. DeVaughn having recently retired, a situation has arisen to myself and to the other members of this board; we must begin the search for a new principal of Saltillo High School (SHS). This will, however, not be as simple a task as one might think, as we cannot simply select any random individual. We must choose the individual who is most fit for the job of running a school such as ours, and I was lucky enough to have the privilege of being the student who was selected to voice my opinion on this matter. I believe that I speak for the entire student body when I say that the new principal must possess specific qualities if he or she is to get the job and excel in his or her position. I believe that I speak once again for the rest of my fellow students when I say that we must select an individual who will best represent SHS as a whole: someone who has professionalism, who has moral values, and who has ambition.
The Twin Falls School District Board of Trustees is pleased to announce Sara Praegitzer as the new associate principal at O’Leary Middle School and Justin White as the new associate principal at Robert Stuart Middle School. It is with great honor to write this recommendation for Dr. Jennifer Fremstad in support of her application for the Assistant Superintendent position at West Fargo Public Schools. Dr. Fremstad is currently the head principal at West Fargo High School and I have the privilege to serve in the role of her direct supervisor.
The overall strategy is labeled as ‘leadership from the middle’, whereby districts, and schools within districts become the drivers of change, based on the identified needs of their students. Thus, districts become partners with each other, their communities, counties and the state in improving teaching and learning. This structure is viewed as a shift from compliance to a capacity building relationship within the state. As
I had contacted the local school in the area I am presently located. This is a lower income area so the school is small and the children are modestly dressed. As I approach the school, I had to be buzzed in. One of the admins comes to the front door and lets me in. This is obviously for the children's protection. Even in a small town with a low crime problem, the take preemptive action to avoid any problems. This is a positive to avoid truancy and danger to the kids.
