The sixth president of the United States was John Quincy Adams. He is the son of John Adams, the 2nd president of the United States. In this report I am going to talk about John Quincy Adams. He was born in Braintree, Massachusetts on July 11th, 1767. When he was growing up he had five siblings, two brothers and three sisters. His sisters were Abigail Adams Smith, Susanna Adams, and Elizabeth Adams. Charles and Thomas Boylston Adams were his brothers. John Quincy Adams spouse was Louisa Adams and she was First Lady of the United States from 1825 to 1829. John Quincy Adams had four children with his wife. They had three sons and only one daughter. Their names were Louisa, George, John, and Charles. His father was John Adams and his mother was Abigail Adams.

Some of Abigail's childhood family members were Mary Smith Crann,Elizabeth Shaw Peabody,and William Smith. She got married the 25 of October 1764 and was married to John Adams. Her children's names are John Quincy Adams, Abigail Adams Smith, Charles Adams, Thomas Boylston Adams,and Susanna Adams. When Abigail was little there was a earthquake and everyone in the house ran to their mother. She also helped make dinner all the time. Abigail as a young adult had no jobs.

At the ripe young age of nineteen Abigail Smith became Abigail Adams when she married John Adams. Abigail Adams traveled to many capital cities in the United States like Washington D.C because John Adams was moving around and Abigail went with him. (firstladies.org) Abigail Adams missed the ceremony on March 4, 1797 where John Adams was given the spot, vice president because Abigail was with John Adams’ dying mother and caring for her. (firstladies.org) One of the most important events Abigail witnessed was the Revolution against America and Britain. (Bober) Abigail was called many names by angry citizens which resulted to John Adams creating laws about harassing leaders like Abigail which mostly solved the big problem.

Before they knew it, the years in office had run out and it was time to move to the next new part of their life together and that was retirement. After the presidential term they both retired and went back to their family home back in Quincy, Massachusetts. That was not the end of the Adams’ relationship with the White House and politics because John and Abigail’s son, John Quincy Adams, became the sixth President of the United States later on.

Abigail Adams married a man destined to be a major leader of the American Revolution and the second President of the United States. Although she married and raised men that become such significant figures during their time, her herself was played an important role in the American society. The events that happened in her life, starting from childhood and ending in her adult years, led her to be a Revolutionary woman. Three main reasons behind her becoming such a strong, independent woman was the fact that she married a man who had an important role in politics, growing up with no education, and raising a family basically by herself.

So instead, Abigail took it upon herself to become a pro at reading and writing- thus expressing her feelings in her letters to her husband. He left for a whole year, and she’s had to take things into her own hands- including raising their children all on her own. She feels that she should

When Washington retired from his presidency in 1796, John Adams ran and won the election over Thomas Jefferson. Adams presidency did not start out good as Britain and France were at war affecting American trade. George Washington managed to keep America at peace but when John Adams was elected he tried sending a delegation to France, which France declined. This was known as the XYZ Affair. An undeclared war broke out between France and America but this only lasted 2 years when a peace treaty was signed. Adams popularity heavily decreased when he signed the Alien and Sedition acts in 1798. This gave the government a lot of power to deport or arrest anyone who disagreed with the government. This hurt Adams costing him the election in 1800. When his term was done, Adams had a long and productive retirement. He wrote many books and wrote letters. In 1812 he was encourages to exchange letters with his rival Thomas Jefferson. John Adams son, John Quincy was the 6th president of the United States.
