Western Australia
Aboriginal communities in Western Australia are basically the communities for indigenous Australians within their ancestral country. The communities comprise the families with the continuous links to country that extend before the European settlement of Australia.
For the Aboriginal Peoples in Western Australia, basically before the invasion of their lands, they live in a nomadic partnership with nature harmoniously. Australian Aboriginal people are actually a diverse group of people where they live vastly different lifestyles according to the places where they stayed. There are about 700 traditional societies in Australia and over there are also about 200 languages practices by them. They survived their life through the harsh climatic change and all those environmental conditions which include the cold temperature to the hot tropical temperature. The aboriginal peoples also have to cope with the arid conditions and torrential rains. They have dwelt for many thousands of years in ways that sustained their societies while conserving resources, protecting fragile soils and leaving a light footprint on the environment. So generally their live before the invasion is good. They only have to deal with all those nature and climates changing in order to survive their live.

There were no horses or any carriages, also no tall buildings, no large farms and others. There were only the aborigines and natures where that is actually how they deal with their life. Australia was actually an unspoilt country where all people do respected their environment where the animals and plants were never over hunted or over collected. People only took the sources enough to feed the number of people there. Nothing will be wasted. This is to ensure that there would always be food anytime they or someone else needed
Before the First Fleet arrived, all the Aboriginals would work really hard for their survival, men would hunt large animals such as emus and kangaroos and the women and children would kill small animals and collect berries and other fruits. They were living only on things from the natural world as they had never seen such technologies before (australianmuseum.net.au). Whilst this is good in some ways, the introduction of technologies would soon make the lives of all Aboriginal people easier and lengthen their life spans from the use of new medicines which the British introduced to the Aboriginals. This meant that the population would slowly increase and many deaths would be prevented. For example, whilst the Aboriginals used spears to hunt for animals and occasionally defend themselves, the English men used guns for the same purposes and created a stronger impact upon what they are using it for. ‘In clashes with Aboriginals, one of the main advantages of the Europeans was their firearms’ (Harding, 2001,
The indigenous cultures of Australia are one of the oldest living cultures in the world. Indigenous groups across Australia have many oral stories about their past, which form part of a great tradition of knowledge. These stories explain the Aboriginal genesis in a different parts of the country and reveal the shaping of a formless land by great ancestors. Aboriginal people of Australia have suffered through many crises, when the British colonised Australia in 1788. Many Aboriginal people from different cultures died at hands of British colonial. There were not a lot of Aboriginal people in Australia in 19th century. Mostly, they inhabit in NSW, Queensland and Victoria. There are many cultures in NSW, one of the oldest culture in Sydney is the Darug, they are the traditional owners of Western and south Western areas of Sydney. The Darug nation is large in size and boasts many clans of Darug people. One of the clans called the Cabrogal. Cabramatta takes its name from the Cabrogal band of the Darug-speaking people that lived around Liverpool and Fairfield when the British first came to Australia.
From the underhanded acts of dispossession to the unintentional carriage of diseases, European settlement had an significant impact on the indigenous people of Australia. With neither party backing down and the indigenous people being throughly disadvantaged with their lack of technology, it is easy to say that the European settlement of Australia had a significant impact on them. Along with convicts and new technology, the First Fleet in 1788 also brought many diseases to the shores of the unknown land that is now called Australia. A disease like influenza that is now non-fatal in the modern era was deadly back in the day, even to the Europeans who had the more advanced technology at the time.
The settlement of white Europeans in Australia was one of the most notable yet swept-under-the-rug events in history, just like other instances of he theft of land from rightful indigenous people. To Australia, Europeans brought with them disease, violence, and widespread turmoil, but also mechanic technology and advancements in communication and medicine. There are multiple sides to this debate, from the perspective of a native Australian, European invasion was horrific and ruined the natural order in place within the land, but a modern white man may say that settlement increased international ties and evolved the nation and functionality of Aboriginal life with
The famous president, Franklin D. Roosevelt , once stated "Men are not prisoners of fate, but only prisoners of their own minds." (Leuchtenburg 16). As one of the best known presidents, and as some might argue, one of the wisest presidents, his decisions and legacy continue to impact the life in America today. Born in Hyde Park, New York on January 30, 1882 to a wealthy and prominent family, he lived a life filled to the brim with luxury. He was, however diagnosed with polio in 1921. As the only president to be elected as president for four separate terms, he served from 1933 to 1945. He could not, however complete his fourth term, for he passed away on April 12, 1945 of cerebral hemorrhage. As a child, he attended the Groton School of Boys, which prepared him for the incredibly prestigious, Harvard University.
The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have had many impacts on their culture since European settlement in Australia. The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders were seen to be savages with no civilisation and as such Australia was seen as ‘Terra Nullius’. With European settlement Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders saw a loss of their land and culture, labour exploitation, introduced diseases, change of diet and a loss in their rights as a citizen and as a human being. Many laws and policies were introduced which controlled an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders life, many things for which we take for granted today. Things such as residence, employment, marriage, social and daily life were all restricted. Most notably was the laws introduced that allowed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children to be forcibly removed from their families.
Australia is home to various, distinct indigenous population. The Waradjuri is New South Wales and the Noongar in Western Australia. Aboriginal populations are often grouped together and reffered to as “Aborigines” however, some consider the term pejorative. Legally, the native populations of Australia are reffered to as “Aboriginals and Torres Strait Islanders.”
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have a long and rich history in Australia. In the community in which I live, and hopefully will be working, many programs and events have been set up to support, encourage and maintain the qualities and efforts of the original owners of this land. Browsing through the council website, I was able to find information relating to the Aboriginal people who once lived in the western parts of Melbourne, they were the ‘Yalukit Wilum, a name meaning 'river camp' or 'river dwellers'.’ The council has provided links to a book written about their lives which details their cultural practices, their religious beliefs, their customs, key events in their calendar and other important information.
The European invasion of Australia in 1780 impacted upon the lives of all the Aboriginal people that lived in and around the invaded areas. When Captain Cook landed in Australia, he declared it as Terra Nullius, and this alone gives a significant insight as to the mentality of the British and their willingness to acknowledge the Aboriginal people and the importance that the land played in their daily lives. As the invaders brought with them their laws, ideals, diseases, livestock and people, the need for land increased and settlers began to venture outwards from the main settlements, the frontier broadened and the Aboriginal population began to shrink. The encroachment upon the land meant that many Aboriginal people were now being forced
When the British arrived in 1788 roughly 500,000 Aboriginal people lived on the continent of Australia. Today only 270,000 remain. Governor Macquarie, tried to do what he described as “civilize” them, which meant
In this case study, The Procurement Integrity act is called upon in order to make an ethical decision if I was the CEO.
Aboriginals in pre-colonization Australia, lived by no rules. They roamed around Australia, and did as they pleased. “Carbon tests have established the presence of such a man on the mainland
Aboriginal Australians have lived in Australia for over 40,000 years, however the arrival of Europeans in 1788 significantly changed the way Aboriginal people lived, their customs and their ways of life. Aboriginal Australians have been formally and informally discriminated against since.
As an early childhood educator, in an effort to support families who have a lack of extended family support, I will make sure to provide them with resources that support their family needs. Resources that are based in the school setting could be childcare, tutoring or expanded learning programs in the afternoons. These school based resources can help the development of their children and offer parents more support. Other resources are more community based, such as parenting classes, enrichment programs and many more. These community resources can provide families with the support of others that may help them deal with issues or concerns they are facing. Sometimes families just need to know they are supported and
Aboriginals or indigenous Australians are the native people of Australia. Aboriginals were nomadic people who came to Australia about 40,000 – 60,000 years ago from Southeast Asia. Religion is a great part of Aboriginal culture. The essay answers these questions: What do Aboriginals belief? What is a Kinship system? What is Dreaming and Dreamtime? What rituals does Aboriginals have?
