The term abortion has been a negative and positive word that has/still is being talked about today. What is abortion? Abortion is defined as: "the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, most often performed during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy, also it is a removal of an embryo or of a fetus that is incapable of survival."(The Free Dictionary). For centuries women have battled with having control over their bodies and what they should do with it. Women who want to abort an unborn child always find themselves fighting or disagreeing with others about their choice. Background/ Statics Abortion dates back many centuries ago. “Official abortion laws did not appear on the books in the United States until 1821, and abortion before quickening did not become illegal until the 1860s” (Scarlet Letters). During the past centuries, if women wanted to abort no legal, social, or religious force would have been in the way of the choice. Most people are aware of the Roe V. Wade trail where abortion was not so much said to be legal as much as it was said to be not be illegal. People can look at the court case in one or two ways, either as America’s greatest moments or one of its greatest failures. People can either see this case as the day when the government removed itself from the equation or as the day when the government made murder legal.
