Abortion is a very unsettling topic for some people to talk about, even in 2016, but however the United States should wholeheartedly support pro-choice views because women should not be forced to carry a baby and should not be told what they can or cannot do with their own bodies. I am pro-choice because i believe women should not be forced to carry a baby. Abortions were illegal so women got them done and used a catheter to do it. In the past, ‘Back alley” and coat hanger abortions were a very violent solution for a women having an unwanted child and would involve a lot of risks for the woman. Abortions should not be looked at negatively but should be discussed more for the purpose of education people about rape, incest, religion, and age. …show more content…

Many believe it's murdering in spite of the fact that the child is unborn. In Buddhism, the Dalai Lama says "Of course, abortion, from a Buddhist viewpoint, is an act of killing and is negative, generally speaking. But it depends on the circumstances. If the unborn child will be retarded or if the birth will create serious problems for the parent, these are cases where there can be an exception." (https://www.spuc.org.uk/abortion/religion) Other religions arent as understanding as Buddhism though, along the lines of Christianity; one of the earliest Christian writings, states: "You shall not kill the child in the womb or murder a new-born infant." The consequences of doing so are spending eternity in hell.

This is why abortion is such a big controversy, those scriptures were written so long ago, but the people of the church want their values and beliefs to be everyone's so they try to force it onto people because that's what they were taught. Almost always the Orthodox Churches forbid abortion since it's going against the commandment 'Thou shalt not kill'. It has a big influence on the victim's mindset and how they are wrong to get the medical procedure even if it's for a health reason in the nature of the pregnancy putting their life at
