Many individuals fail to understand the sheer magnitude of bloodshed, tribulation, and despair legalized abortion has initiated into the human experience – both in the United States and worldwide. Far more human lives have been violently ended by this immoral decision than any other war or genocide in history. It is one of the most controversial issues in today’s society. Abortion is the intentional decision to murder a human fetus by chemical, medical or surgical procedures. Those who support the rights of abortion argue that women should be able to decide what can be done to their bodies, yet the unborn baby inside a woman is a living being, and terminating that pregnancy is the equivalent of murder. These innocent children should not be held responsible for your mistakes. Don’t terminate pregnancy now, because you may not have children in the future at all.

Abortion has taken the lives of more than 50 million babies since 1973 (“About Abortion”). The issue of abortion is one of the most common controversial issues in American politics and culture. In modern society, many women that have an unintended pregnancy and they result to abortion without researching other options. Abortion is not a substitute for birth control and this issue should be taken seriously. The topic of aborting an innocent fetus has been overwhelmingly controversial in the United States. The two sides to this ongoing debate is pro-life advocates and pro-choice advocates. Abortion is the ending of a pregnancy by removing a fetus or embryo before it can survive outside the uterus; whether it is an unplanned or unwanted pregnancy. Abortions are most often performed during the first twenty-eight weeks of pregnancy and can be performed as a medical or surgical procedure. Medical abortions include two types of abortion pills; while the surgical procedures include vacuum aspiration and dilation and evacuation. Ultimately, I am one of the many “pro-lifers”, and I strongly agree that abortion should be illegal because it negatively affects our people. Women across the nation are becoming impregnated and following a short amount of judgement time, turn to abortion to solve their problems but in the end hurt themselves with this decision. Abortions should be illegal because it is immoral and unconstitutional, causes severe mental and physical issues, and negatively impacts the economy. “During the ancient Roman times it has been supposed that abortion and the destruction of unwanted children was permissible, but as our civilization has aged, it seems that such acts were no longer acceptable by rational human beings, so that in 1948, Canada along with most other nations in the world signed a declaration of the United Nations promising every human being the right to life”

Each year there are roughly 6 million pregnancies in the U.S., with 20% resulting in the termination of the fetus, or abortion in other terms. Mathematically, that is estimated to be 1.2 million babies that have no hope for a future outside the womb (American Pregnancy). Everyone has a right to life; this right is exercised in many parts of the American life, namely the Declaration of Independence (The Abortion Controversy 113-116). Therefore, the United States’ federal government should go to greater lengths to prohibit these so called ‘abortions’ in every case, regardless of the situation. There has been much controversy regarding the social, ethical, and medical predicament that abortion provokes. Abortion is the procedure of ending a pregnancy with the early removal of a fetus. There is no right or wrong when it comes to abortion; values contribute a great amount to an individual’s opinion. This process has led to numerous debates among individuals who believe that it is up to a woman to decide what to do with her body and the individuals who hold that women do not have the right to take away a life. Although it may seem as if the beliefs of pro-life and pro-choice advocates are on opposite sides of a spectrum, the two sides can come to an agreement about how to at least lessen the number of abortions occurring.

Societies frequently regard the term “good” as whatever is pleasurable or moral and “bad” as whatever causes unpleasant outcomes. Therefore it makes sense that we should seek out the good in life and avoid the bad. In cases of abortion, though, where a potential life is considered “bad”, is it justified to remove it? Life is viewed as the highest intrinsic good, thus any act of deliberately taking it away becomes a serious moral issue. Pro-life arguments, or arguments opposing abortion, claim that each human has a right to life, a person is a human at the moment of conception, and each human possesses the obligation to protect human lives. Pro-choice arguments, or arguments supporting abortion, argue that a child’s life begins at birth, a woman has the leading right over her body, and abortion promotes autonomy. I will attempt to refute the leading pro-choice arguments while holding my claim that abortion to end a life is always immoral because it is an act of murder.

For recent years, people start to deny abortion and stated it as cruel and murder. While it does involve remove fetus or embryo from the mother and kill the baby before it was born, it might not be the worst thing that can happen to the baby. Most people who chose abortion is either can’t afford to have a kid or unable to take care of them. It was one of the case, while other concern about their right as a person. Some might say the baby have right to live, while others believe the mother have right for herself to do what she want to her body. The debate on abortion is not about who right, but it about the consequences of their action.

The greatest destruction of peace is abortion because if a mother can kill her own child, what is left for me to kill you and you to kill me. Abortion is causing many damages in the humanity. Many circumstances are causing it, and the dangers of it are being more consequent and consistent. Think about the right of the child before taking his life. To stop it we need to find solutions. Abortion is badly affecting the American society. Why not giving the child the right to taste his life?

There are two main groups in this debate: pro-life and pro-choice Pro-life believes that intentional abortion is wrong, while the pro-choice side believes that intentional abortion is acceptable in some circumstances. Due to this controversy abortion has become a popular topic in the debates of the masses.

The sound of a tiny heartbeat fills the room. There is so much tension in the air. In the year 2012 there were 699,202 reported abortions that occurred in America. An abortion is “the removal of an embryo or fetus from the uterus in order to end a pregnancy” (Abortion). This is a very sensitive and controversial topic for most of the population in the United States. Some people believe that abortion is a woman’s choice and she has the right to choose, because it is her body. However, an abundant amount of Americans see a different side of this controversial topic. They view it is as murder. They believe life starts at conception so the unborn babies are humans with a right to live.

With this in mind, research shows that 40-60% of the women who decided to have an abortion regret it and have some sort of guilt they feel afterwards. Eight weeks after the abortion fifty-five percent expressed guilt and thirty-one percent had regrets about their decision. Another survey was conducted for post-abortion patients and fifty-three percent more than half felt they were forced by others to have an abortion. Ninety-five percent of the women surveyed weren’t satisfied with the decision they made that day (Vineyard).

A long on-going subject that has been greatly debated in our society is abortion. Many people argue that because the baby in the mother’s womb is not alive, aborting him or her is not considered a murder. However, others say that as the baby’s heart and brain are the first things to develop, the baby is technically alive and killing it would be a murder. As soon as the baby has a heartbeat, it has life. Abortion has many characteristics of a murder, including the killing of one human being by another, it’s unethical, and it is done without the consent of the person.

Abortion is an abomination and a serious confliction in civilization today. This heated topic is one inflicted upon by many different thought processes, morals, and religions, making it extremely controversial, but most do not realize one’s life is truly at stake. Abortion signifies revoking someone the opportunity of life, for the sole reason that things are not in our favor (Ladock). Ladock states the most important factor of abortion: human life is involved and killing it would be a crime. The innocent child in the womb is called innocent for a reason, and taking away the life of someone without their permission is cruelty and unjust. Just because a parent may not be prepared to have the child, does not mean they should be

However, even before these restrictive laws were established, its effects on society and morals has been long recognized. Various denominations of Catholicism and Orthodox Judaism, for example, do not allow such procedures to take place, and deal out religious sanctions as a result. There has been debate on the issue by other growing denominations, with an expanding comprehension, on their part, of the personal and religious issues included, and the subsequent leadership of them assumed. Little research has been done, however, on a relationship between the amount of education and abortion. While education opportunities play a large factor in demographics within society, it may also play a large role in abortion decisions.
