Constitutional Right to Abortion in the United States

The constitution, being written by men, only originally concerned the freedom of men. Since women were brought into the mix for increasing equality, they are legally allowed the same rights as any other citizen. One issue concerning the rights of women is the argument of abortion laws. It is debated about whether it is an ethical and morally just procedure and whether it violates the fetus 's rights or a woman 's freedom of her own body. Most people either agree that women should be allowed to decide on an abortion over pregnancy and some oppose abortions completely. Before 1973, abortion was widely illegal. Since then, several cases have challenged women 's rights to abortions, and changed the laws for all states. Today, abortion is legal in all states, because of the Supreme Court Case known as Roe v. Wade (1973). This proved that abortions are a constitutional right guaranteed in the Constitution. Although no state now has the power to go against this, they can make it harder to get the procedure. The option of abortion gives a women security if she cannot support a baby. It is also safer than pregnancy and is much cheaper as well. Babies are incredibly large responsibilities and they should not be seen has inevitable mistakes by women who felt obligated to keep them.
