Abortion: the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, most often performed during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy. An abortion that occurs spontaneously is also known as a miscarriage. If a abortion is cause purposely it is known as induced abortion or less frequently called induced miscarriage. It can be very dangerous and cause very severe pain. The parent can choose between a surgical or medical abortion in the first couple weeks of the pregnancy. Many people do not know but a baby’s life start when the egg is fertilized. There is a lot of health risks if you plan to get an abortion and a lot of pain the mother will go through such as cramps and severe bleeding. The last medical procedure that is preferred for the first trimester is Aspiration which is a procedure used to terminate pregnancy up to sixteen weeks from the last period. It can be called suction curettage, dilation and curettage or vacuum aspiration. Medication-based procedures are not an option during the second trimester. During second trimester there are two main procedures dilation & curettage and induction abortion. Dilation & curettage is a procedure used to kill a baby up to sixteen weeks gestation and it’s referred to as suction curettage or vacuum aspiration. The second procedure is induction abortion which is a rarely performed surgical procedure where salt water, urea, or potassium chloride is injected into the amniotic sac which is prostaglandins are inserted into the vagina, and pitocin is injected. Then there is the third trimester and the baby is 2 ¼ pounds by the start of it. Their eyes can now blink and the baby has eyelashes. At full term, the average baby is about 19 inches long and weighs nearly 7 pounds. There is a bunch of health risks that come with getting an abortion. You can get blood clots in the uterus post-abortion which leads to severe cramping. Women after an abortion sometimes experience irregular bleeding for 3 weeks after and severe cramping for 2 weeks after.
