Its purpose is to have a clarity of imagines. From facial expressions to physical gestures, it’s important to the viewers to see what elements truly matters in the frame. Also, is a significant element of Mise-en scene because it’s an important factor for manipulating audience responses to characters and narrative events. In About Last Night, the director established a dark tone setting. Since the characters fell in love with one another the director wanted to portray the passion within its surroundings. For example, when Bernie and Joan were being intimate in her office, having the lights low, and candles around them while she wears sexy lingerie, doing sexual dance moves while Bernie is laid down in a tux. On the contrary, as to when the characters were fighting, and dealing with issues- the lightning effects would be bright to concentrate on how serious their facial expression would be towards one another to create an intensive scene full of dramatic events. For example, the lighting in the elevator was bright, and the camera was facing the actors face reflecting on the sadness their past brought into the present. The couple were fighting since Danny isn’t as stabled as Debbie; he hates his job, and now that they’re together he feels the pressure to be financially stabled for the sake of their future. But, Debbie doesn’t care about his financial status, she cares for him as a person. Unfortunately, Danny was still fighting his past demons due to his ex being a “Gold Digger”, while Debbie keeps claiming she’s not like
Readers can infer a lot about the speaker, Jody Roach, in the poem What Dreams May Come based on the dreams that others have wished upon her. The poem describes the dreams of what various people wish for Jody, concluding with the dreams that Jody wishes for herself. For example, people’s dream for her, is to become a successful RCMP officer. This is a superb indication that Jody has the strength, professionalism and courage required for this job. Another example, is that Jody would be one of the very first female RCMP officers in Nunavut.
In the poem “Last Night” by Sharon Olds, the essence of the poem was greatly enhanced through the wistful delivery of the speaker and the present tone of lust and desire. This was obtained through the successful pronunciation of words and the various use of literary devices such as metaphors and similes, in addition to the steamy atmosphere that the erotic tone of this poem brings.
During the Vietnam War, Mexican American soldiers fought bravely to defend the United States. However mainstream historical chronicles are almost silent concerning the contributions of these soldiers in this war. Most literature omits the accomplishments and experiences of Mexican American soldiers. One example is the bestselling book Everything We Had by Al Santoli, which chronicles the oral history of soldiers in the Vietnam War. However not one Mexican American soldier is interviewed . When they are mentioned they are usually described in a stereotypical way for example Gary Hook who describes these soldiers as “ Mexicans” who speak “Mexican” in his book One Day in Vietnam. The brave participation of Mexican American soldiers in the Vietnam War did not improve the marginalized status of their community within the United States. It also failed to advance their civil rights battles and their war against poverty. Even though they fought bravely Mexican Americans faced prejudice before and during the war and received minimum recognition and rewards for their efforts in the War .
Most of the actors are wearing darker clothing as well which makes their faces stand out even more. This lighting style also adds to the tension and the mystery of the scene. It makes the audience on edge. The contrast filled lighting of film noir is also effective at bringing out the extremes of emotions and thought. The darkness of the genre makes anything that goes wrong seem less taboo, because the lighting of the genre sets up the norms for the world that the film lives in—and in that world, bad things happen. The lighting of the film helps the audience understand the world that the characters are in.
There is nothing left. The town is destroyed. Families are destroyed. Much of the nation is destroyed. How is one to survive and prosper after a nuclear bombing? How can one possibly move on when everything they once knew is forever changed? These are the questions that faced every individual still alive in Fort Repose.

During Mr. Rosenberg’s leave we learned different dramatic elements such as script analysis, stasis and intrusion, dramatic conflict, etc. This helps us to understand the different elements so one day when we have to apply the elements we will already be mindful of them. Additionally, we also learned about the beginning of theater dating back to ancient Greece and their different ways of displaying theater.

The term Mise-en-Scene is used to signify the director’s control over what happens in the film frame. In English the phrase literally translates to “putting in the scene” (Bordwell, 2010a). ‘Night of the Hunter’ (Charles Laughton, 1955) is a prime example of a film that uses aspects of Mise-en-Scene to sway the audience’s opinions of characters and their understanding of narrative themes and to create a certain atmosphere in the film. “Although the fundamental aspects of Mise-en-Scene in both theatre and cinema are those of lighting, blocking and production design (costume, props and sets),
Ghost Singer by Anna Lee Walters is a tale of the historical injustices suffered by Indigenous peoples and the modern consequences of those injustices. Although it is clear that the spirit people in the novel serve as the most outwardly fearsome people in the novel, it is important to take into account the overall systemic injustices that the characters of Native American heritage suffer under throughout the histories presented in the novel. Walters addresses fearsomeness and sympathetic characters through the use of dangerous characters and situations presented directly and indirectly to the characters. The fearsomeness of the characters and the sympathy felt for the characters is dependent upon the perspectives of the readers since these fearsome figures are “a cultural construct and a projection” of that cultures fears (Cohen 1). The fearsome figures in the novels are presented to initially be the spirits haunting the artifacts, but upon closer examination the larger more entrenched issue of outdated models of thought in relation to Indigenous peoples appear to be the most important fearsome figure. The protagonist of the novel is dependent upon the views taken, and the fearsome figures that the historians, such as David Evans, and characters are attempting aid the spirits, such as George Daylight. Walters addresses the fearsome nature of a system dependent on examining and judging indigenous societies based on white values, which is problematic since both cultures do not
Sex At Dawn by Chrstopher Ryan and Cacilda Jetha, describes our current society as a sexual hypocrisy where monogamy is the norm and everything else falls under taboo. Based on prehistoric facts, they argue that we derive from a sexually free and promiscuous culture, and were never meant to be in lifelong monogamous unions. In Paleofantasy by Martha Zuk, looks at evolutionary theorists, like Ryan and Jetha, who use the Paleolithic Age for guidance on how our current society should live. Zuk’s argument is that people want to make our nature into one-form, but humans are not designed for one-way/form of life. As for our sexual system it too can not be put into one-form. Zuk shows various points on popular assertions, creating uncertainty to the reader. This therefore shows how difficult it is to determine a precise natural sexual practice from our past, and debunking Ryan and Jetha. For this reason, Zuk provides a better argument regarding how we should use prehistoric history in present day.

The short story On The Bridge by Todd Strasser is about two boys, Adam and Seth, who are hanging out after school on a bridge that overlooks the highway. Seth was the character that demonstrated maturity towards the end of the story. He showed some examples of this when Adam got them into some trouble. For example, when Adam flicked his cigarette onto the windshield of a car below the bridge, the drivers came up behind them. “But suddenly he [Seth] noticed that all three guys were staring at him. He quickly looked at Adam and saw why. Adam was pointing at him.” It was this point where Seth started to question his friendship with Adam, because they had gotten into trouble because of Adam, and then he blamed it on Seth. After the men left, Seth
From reading the “Night Drive” by Wil. F. Jenkins and putting the details in the test together I have came to conclusion that Mr.Tabor did commit a crime. One reason of why I believe Mr.Tabor committed a crime was when he started to show that he know where Madge was driving because he was supposedly a “Stranger” to this area. In the text he says “We’re near the turnoff ”(W. Jenkins pg. 2), and he mentions where the girl was killed, how long she was dead before she was found, he explained how the two murders were different, and how the police found the murder. When Mr.Tabor says all of that information that reveals to Madge and us the readers that he was either their, or he contributed and or was the killer and the person behind the two murders.
