About the Gerne:
"What's Love Got To Do With It" is a pop and R&B song that was recoreded back in 1984 by Tina Turner. Pop orginiates from the 1950s as it is derived from rock and roll, or "popular music". Some of the most popular pop musicians of all time are The Beatles, Elvis, Michael Jackson, and Madonna, these are all artists who have sold millions of records world wide. Pop in perticular is important to our society becuase it helps to bring people together, everyone knows pop music thus the reason why its called popular music. Many different sub-genres were born out of pop music, some of them including Bubblegum pop, Christian pop, Dance-pop, and my personal favorite Synthpop. Pop music is basically the most popular form of music there

Meaning that the word love has no meaning if someone contiues to treat there partner badly. As for the intruments that are used in the song, the whole song uses a synth for all the instruments and it has a very slow melody to go with it. When it comes to how this song connects to my life, I think that most people can relate to how the word "love" is really thrown around. specifically in the lyrics " What`s love got to do, got to do with it, Who needs a heart, When a heart can be broken". I know for a fact that I have thrown around that word carlessly before in past relationships. What I like most about this song is really the lyrics, I actually had to sit down and read the lyrics over a few times to get a real understanding of what she was trying to say in this song. What I dislike the most abou this song is also the lyrics. Throughout the song It seemed to me like some of the lines of what she was saying werent really connecting together. This song gives me a very relaxed feeling and makes me feel like im on a beach somewhere in the 80s drinking crystal
Her lyrics are very real to say, she talks about how people see other people. She also talks about how people don’t value others, and how did replace people real quick. She also states don’t think that you can have my love to waste, she is defending her honor in a way. She’s talking about how people are seen and how they are undervalued, but she is basically saying don’t undervalue me. She is saying that she’s not like everyone else, that she shouldn’t be seen as everyone else has been
Every song can make one feel the emotion of the song. Depending on the song whether it is “Before He Cheats” or “Just A Dream” will show different emotions. In the song “Before He Cheats,” “I took a Louisville Slugger to both headlights, a hole in all 4 tires… Maybe next time he'll think before he cheats.” This emotion you can say is anger, she is also heartbroken but past the crying and sad part of it but to the point of anger and hatred. This song can really get you pumped up and hating all the cheaters in the world. In the song “Just A Dream” her emotion starts out somewhat happy, “It was two weeks after the day she turned eighteen, All dressed in white, Going to the church that night, She had his box of letters in the passenger seat, Sixpence in a shoe,
The song “Hooked on a Feeling” by Blue Swede reflects me as a person. I am like this song because the melody is easygoing and carefree, kind of like my personality and the way I deal with things. Slow, but steady. In the chorus, the lyrics state: “I’m hooked on a feelin’, I’m high on believin’, that you’re in love with me, hooked on a feelin’. I do have mixed feelings on relationships and boys and girls and everything else in life. But for me, the song “Hooked on a Feeling” takes on a different meaning. Not the meaning that a boy thinks a girl loves him and vice versa, but the meaning of that I have a feeling that everything will turn out fine. I’m hooked on a feeling that I will find my way through life, through the pain, through the tears,
First, the song shows what love can actually do to you as a whole. It can make you feel like you lost a piece of yourself
This piece is a very personal piece of mine. I feel like I am the one hurting, the one with the bruised heart as he seems fine. " I tried to wash the scars and marks from under my skin, but you're etched in me like stone" means that she is trying to fix herself but this guy really broke her into pieces and, that is exactly what I am going through. " Save My Soul" is really the perfect song where I can create movement and speak what I feel through movement. Following Shaun Evaristo all these years has really brought out the artist in me.
Different songs can have different intentions on what message they are trying to send to the listener. As the listener, they are the only ones who interpret what they think about the song or if they like it or not. To me certain songs have lyrics that tell stories and teach life lessons and other songs I don’t even have to listen to the lyrics to like the song. Songs can reflect different sides to a person and may also relate to people’s lives. Through my three songs “Logic – The Come Up” and “Yung Dash – Momma I Made It” they represent the saying of “You will get knocked down but it’s your choice whether to get back up or not” as well as not letting anyone who doubts you get in your way with whatever you are working for.
When I first heard this song, it kind of reminded me of her previous song 'Gunpowder and Lead'. She has that sass and toughness in both songs. When I hear this song I believe she is trying to portray how times have changed. For example she states "My momma came from a softer generation/ Where you get a grip and bite your lip just to save a little face. " I believe she is telling us how maybe back in the day you may have had to hide your crazy but times have changed.
What I personally like about this song is the way I interpreted it; I’m too young to know what love truly is, but seeing the way people talk and sing about falling in love is truly beautiful in my perspective. Aside from the message, I’m truly just fascinated with Frank Sinatra's voice and how a single man can leave such a huge mark in our music
I like the artist as he talks about his journey to being successful in most of his songs. He really gets across his ideas incredibly well with really good literary techniques. 2. What do you believe to be the main themes in the song? Identify a minimum of two themes and explain your response using direct quotes from the lyrics to support your answer.
Based off the lyrics, the song is all about how Beyonce truly feels deep down inside. The message behind
This very slow song, so in my opinion I think it reinforces a sense of bittersweet, because even though she mentions how she wants to be remembered for the good things that she did she also mentions death and regrets in her song.
Beyonce uses pathos, the first of the three appeals in her song by using very descriptive phrases. When she states, “I’d listen to her, `cause I know how it hurts,” Beyonce is telling her audience that she understands what it is like to be hurt, and that if she were a boy, she would treat her women better because she could understand where she was coming from. This tugs at the listener’s heart because you can see that she has been emotionally hurt from a past relationship. Also, many people can relate to what she is disclosing. It is human nature for people to get emotionally damaged in a relationship and therefore her feelings are empathized. She also uses syntax by the way she orders her words by telling a story. If the song was not in story form, it would not produce the great impact that it does.
The song basically describes the “perfect date” and all these emotions that are “supposed” to be felt to indicate that you love the person. The artist adds classical elements and modern-day elements to her song making it more relatable to teens and also causing them to remember memories of when they were kids watching “Snow White” and wishing one day they will be that princess. The artist keeps repeating that this
This is an inspirational song for an average teenage girl, but as I pointed out there were some contradictions to the lyrics and the meaning. They may want to see themselves as beautiful in every way possible, but the world is a puzzle and there is a piece that is gone because of what has become socially acceptable.
It’s filled with so much angst and anger, yet about having a crush. There’s one line I find sad but also get a sinker out of every time I hear it. The line goes, “On the mats with the boys you think your alone, with the pain that you drain from love.” To me, that’s talking about a closeted-gay wrestler. Maybe someone a bit less bias then myself can find a different meaning to that line. Then the lead in to the chorus is “In a car with a girl, promise me she’s not your world, cause Andy you’re a star.” I can relate to that feeling. It’s not as if gay people go after heterosexuals in the least; that would be ridiculous. But you do occasionally develop a crush on someone and then start to think, “I totally thought that person was gay but now I’m doubting it and it’s not a good feeling.” That song embodies all those feelings for me; the feelings of an angsts-y and angry crush, that needs to be kept
