Abraham Lincoln Assassination
Early morning of April 15, 1865 the United States of America stood still. It started as a normal day at the theatre, but soon a dramatic turn would change United States history forever.
This paper will define President Abraham Lincoln’s life, the man behind the gun with a plan, and how the United States reacted.

Abraham Lincoln came from a military background that helped him with his political background. He has started small but ended big. He was the president of the United States from 1861 through 1865. He has made many difficult decisions throughout his presidency and will go down in history as the really tall 16th president, but also as the one who put the Emancipation Proclamation into action.
In March of 1830, Lincoln's father moved their family to Illinois. At this time in his life Lincoln decided to finally go out into the world on his own. He moved to New Salem when he was 22. First, Lincoln made his living by chopping wood for fires and rail fences, but soon he stepped up in the world.Lincoln worked as a shopkeeper, and a postmaster (History.com 2). These jobs taught him the importance of dedication and hard work. Lincoln also was able to work well with people. Lincoln socially matured himself, and also became close will the locals in town. As a young child, Abraham lived in a log cabin in Illinois. Around the age of twelve he began working, wielding an ax, building fences, and cutting wood. Later, Abraham Lincoln married a woman named Mary Todd; together they had four children. Lincoln started his presidency on March 18, 1861, but his term was cut short on April 14, 1865, by the assassin John Wilkes Booth (Abraham).
When Abraham was nine years old, his mother died and soon after his father remarried. The young Abraham bonded with his new step-mother, Sarah Johnston who encouraged his education and frequently defended him against his father in arguments (Miller Center, n.d.). The rural life Lincoln lived involved much labor, including farm chores, splitting fence rails and working the land (Abraham Lincoln, n.d.). Lincoln had a voracious appetite for attaining knowledge, and often read books late into the night, utilizing any free time he had remaining.
President Lincoln was born February 12, 1809. He as born in Hodgenville, KY. His parents Thomas & Nancy Hanks Lincoln. He had a sister and her name was Sarah. He married Mary Todd Lincoln; they had 4 children named Robert, Edward, William, and Thomas. Lincoln’s formal education began in a log cabin. While the Lincoln family was living on Knob Creek, he and his sister Sarah attended ABC schools for a short period of time. Abraham Lincoln grew up on a small farm in Kentucky. Lincolns mother died when he was just nine years old. Thomas Lincoln, Abraham Lincolns father, soon married Sarah Bush Johnston. She was kind towards Lincoln. Abraham had a very little amount of schooling in his childhood, but it was enough so that he could teach himself how to read and write. Abraham went on a small trip to New Orleans. Shortly after, he moved to the village of New Salem, Illinois. Lincoln eventually earned the respect of the village, and they chose him to be the captain of the volunteer company in the Black Hawk War.

He spent a lot of tume working with public doing manyal labor and was known as a great story-teller among his community. He was then elected into office as a state legislature of Illinois. Abraham continued to work his way up the chain of politics until he was elected as president. Mary’s parents disagreed with her marrying Abraham because he had a poor background. Only Robert Todd Lincoln in his family survived into adulthood. Lincoln was the 16th president, that was one of his major accomplishments who wouldn't want to be president. During the world war Lincoln preserved the union. People think that he saved people from slavery but he really didn't. Lincoln was actually for slavery.

The life of President Abraham Lincoln began in Sinking Springs Farm on February 12, 1809. At a young age Lincoln’s family moved twice until they finally got situated. By the time they were stable and well situated Lincoln’s mother died in 1818 from what they said was milk sickness. By the time Lincoln had turned twenty-one his family moved to Illinois. Most people can agree that president Abraham Lincoln, the 16th president of the United States is considered to be one of the most outstanding citizens.

Lincoln led the United States through its Civil War—its bloodiest war and its greatest moral, constitutional, and political crisis. In doing so, he preserved the Union, abolished slavery, strengthened the federal government, and modernized the economy.
In 1828 Abe was 19. He poled a flatboat down a river he saw African Americans being sold. Abe didn’t like it at all. Abe settled at New Salem Illinois. He was hired to run a general store. Abe was so honest if he accidentally over charged someone very little money he would run miles to give it back. One time the store owner set up a wrestling match. Against the leader of rowdy gang, jack Armstrong. Abe agreed to wrestle were not sure if he won or not a lot of people had different opinions. Jack and Abe became close friends for years when Jack so his strength. Abraham Lincoln worked to earn money by doing farm work. When some people saw him reading while working they thought he was lazy but he just loved books. When Abe got older he studied law without a teacher. Abraham Lincoln became a lawyer. He was interested in politics. So people said that he should run for public office he ran for Senate, Congress then the most important one of all, President. Abraham Lincoln the 16th president. Abraham Lincoln had to do a lot while he was president he had to help with the civil war during the civil war he gave a speech called the Gettysburg Address. After the rebels won the war Abraham Lincoln had to help make the 13 colonies unite with the United States. The time period was called reconstruction.
Abraham Lincoln was the 16Th President of America. He was the first republican that was elected as President. He ran for senate two times and lost both. When he was in office he was mostly occupied with the states that broke away from the Union,who was named the Confederate States of America. The first to break away was South Carolina followed by 6 other states before the inauguration of Abraham Lincoln. And then four more at the beginning of the Civil War,Battle of Fort Sumter.
