If I were to build a statue after a good person, it would be Abraham Lincoln. He was a good president. Also he was a good person. He was determined to do what he thought was right and nothing could ever stop him. The first reason that I believe should be one of the reasons that he should have a statue built in his honor is because he freed slaves. With his determination he could do anything right. What about freeing slaves? Well, he could do that too. He freed bunches of slaves and there are no more captive slaves to this day because of him. He justified that slaves deserved a better life. The first reason that I believe should be one of the reasons that he should have a statue built in his honor is because he ended the Civil War.
The major reason why the Americans were not justified for war with Mexico was because of their decision to try to annex to the United States. In Document C, it shows us Mexico’s thoughts on the Annexation. Jesus Velasco-Marquez says,” The Annexation of Texas to the United States was inadmissible for both legal and security reasons.” Mexico saw Texas’s action to join the United States as a real big threat. Nobody would want a very powerful and strong country right on their border.
Frederick Douglass Accomplishments: Frederick Douglass was a very accomplished person. He was known to fight against slavery in the South. He escaped when he was 16, and ever since then he decided to speak out against slavery. Many African Americans, then and now think of him as a hero, but what did he do to become a hero? Why was it important then, and what are its effects now?
If it was not for him we might still be living in a British colony under British rule. Without his integrity and character our country might be ruled under a monarchy instead of a democracy. The first offer made to Washington by key members of congress was for a kingship not for President. He replied why would I become what I have fought so hard to be rid of? I have enjoyed learning about him because of his major impact on US history. I also enjoyed learning about him because he had a very interesting life. The multiple deaths in his family leading his half-brother Lawrence to raise him, marrying the widower Martha, serving in the military, and as president all while just wanting to be a simple farmer at Mount Vernon.
That is a huge step to a better state. Without his passion and determination, the civil war probably wouldn't have started until later in the years and it could have been too late to do
Thomas Jefferson, one of the best presidents America has ever had. Some people believe he was evil for keeping slaves. But, even though he did that, he did more good than bad. He purchased the Louisiana territory, greatly expanding America. Even before he was president he helped America, he was the main author of the Declaration of Independence. Also after being president he helped by founding the University of Virginia.
He put many americans back on their feet. He brought courage to the hopeless in a country
During the civil war Douglass consulted with President Abraham Lincoln with the matter of emancipation proclamation. Frederick Douglass began working with leaders of the Abolitionist (anti-slavery) movement, making speeches and educating people about the horrors of slavery. By publishing his works and speaking to the public, he showed everyone that black people were intelligent and talented people too, and deserved freedom. By the time of the Civil War, Douglass was one of the most famous black men in the nation which already makes him a famous and a memorable being to deserve a national holiday. He did a lot for this nation for our
War and saved the Union and efforts to abolish slavery. He is the only one during his time to be a
In conclusion Abraham Lincoln is a hero because he passed that 13th amendment to abolish slavery, he freed the african americans from slavery, and prove equality among men, women and
His impact towards the United States was shown through the countless citizens who paid their respect to him after his death. Abraham Lincoln was honored for his accomplishments as president, and the importance of following through with each cause of the American Civil War. It is known that there are several factors that led the South to secede. Slavery, states’ rights, and the election of Abraham Lincoln, himself, to the presidency, contributed to the war and Lincoln recognized that and took responsibility and initiative to fix what he had started. Even though it has been nearly 150 years since the Civil War ended, some of the leftover divide between North and South can still be seen. In politics, there is a divide between North and South. However, there are also issues of race and cultural differences. Much like how the conservative states are in the North, and the Liberal states are in the south, but this is mostly because of the demographic of the area in which they are voting. Abraham Lincoln experienced a lot within his time of being president, which was set as his initiative to start his achievements and relationships. President, Abraham Lincoln is no doubt one of the most essential historic figures to be a part of the American history. He will be known for generations to come not only for being on the five-dollar bill, penny, and on Mount Rushmore, but what he stood for and pursued. Without his determination and work ethic, slavery would not have ended at such a rapid and sudden rate, and modern America would not be in the same control/ be ran and governed the way that it is
He went after every right in order to speak up for those slaves that didn’t have a voice. Education was one of his beliefs that helped him. Telling his story to the world, born a slave but now a free man. He fought for African Americans not are viewed as “property” or “slaves” but as equal to whites and must receive fair treatment.
states on the issue of slavery. In his speech, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. opened by expressing to
His Proclamation and idea of the liberation of blacks foreshadowed the 13th amendment’s establishment. This addition to the Constitution officially abolished slavery and involuntary servitude within the southern states. This adjustment gave millions of slaves the opportunity to live their lives without having a ruler. His ability to identify the evils of slavery and pursue a change, demonstrates how he deserves the title, “America’s greatest President.”
Many of us thought he was a very inspiring and wonderful man because he had achieved his goal by showing everyone that all of us are equal. If it weren’t for him, there probably wouldn’t be different races here in the world getting along together today.
Last but not least I would like to talk about Abraham Lincoln’s accomplishments. Abe lincoln was the man who made the Emancipation Proclamation possible. If you dont have a clear take of what that is, Its the time when he began the process of freedom for the slaves. He also made it possible for African American soldiers to battle in Union 5. He did not want the union to dissolve.
