Aby's Up Losers: A Short Story

This week, good feelings, everything that I was doing was making sense so I am only hoping that pretty soon everything will get easier. Well, that will be I the perfect world so I better keep on studying and do my best each week.

The past few weeks have been filled with successes. Comparatively this week may seem slow or wearisome but don't go looking for trouble. If you control your ego and temper things will start to look up soon.

This week started off pretty slow. Monday I had the opportunity to go on a home visit to a foster home. This has been one of the most interesting visit of all. I went out with Faith, a Family Specialist. This therapeutic foster home housed 3 special needs children. The oldest girl has a diagnosis of Asperger and the youngest children, a girl and boy, have a diagnosis of Autism. They are awesome kids and they have been blessed with delightful foster parents. I just get good vibes whenever I interact with this family.

For the beginning of the week, I worked with my assistant manager on Monday, and focused on my sales goal in comparison with the store. My sales volume is high and I am trending above my sales goal for the month, and my focus is on how many units per transaction I am selling. I helped a woman pick out a wallet for her husband as an anniversary gift and added her to my books and will email

This week has been a good one so far. I can say I feel really good about my progress and work completed. I am half way done with my curriculum map and I am starting to list resources and strategies that I am using which will add an extra component to my curriculum map. I think I started to piece together my PowerPoint presentation as well.

Everyone has a dream. No matter where you’re from, or how you grew up, you have a dream. My dream is to one day get into the music business as a music producer. I chase after my dream everyday. I’m a junior in high school with close to a full time job at an entertainment company. I started out at the company as just a tech guy. Now I’m starting to do gigs all across Ohio at clubs I’m not even old enough to get into. I make remixes and original songs for the company. Most nights I stay up till three or four in the morning working on new songs because it’s the only time I have to work and if I don’t get everything out on time, I get fired. It gets tough sometimes, especially when you go to school on maybe two hours of sleep. Maybe

Another activity that I was doing during this week was getting ready for the career fair at La Salle University on March 30. One of my favorite activity this week was to do outreach at the career fair. It meant a lot for me to recruit students from my school to be potential interns at DOL (VETS). I was happy to be there and take the experience on how to be a Human Resources person. I enjoy to be there because I got to meet students and employers. Many students gave us their resume and we need to evaluate their resume and get in contact with the students. I consider that the career fair this spring semester was a success.

Starting and stopping seems to be a big part of pursuing a music career. How have the ups/downs impacted you emotionally?

These two weeks have been busy working on forms for teachers and working with a program called Flubaroo. These weeks have been full of learning and creating new forms that further increases my education.

Today was Monday and I got to work and began working on trying to find out who to contact the game more information to learn about the breakthrough energy coalition. I was doing this for a client that was unable to contact them and could not find a way to contact them. I begin working on this project and immediately found ways to reach out individuals and create a contact. Well working your unless I also spent time reviewing a preparations bills and keeping in eye on what was happening on both the house and Senate floors

However, it hasn’t been that exciting. Most of my work this week revolved around running errands for the basketball operations staff. First and foremost, I updated player boards in executives’ offices to reflect the recent roster changes of each NBA team. This entails making sure each depth chart matches the roster of each team. To do so, I have to make labels and put them on magnets. Once I have finished the magnets, I go to the boards and place the player magnets on their respective team roster. This week was not so bad. A few things that happen was my research, my internship interview, and my exercise adherence project. The best thing about this week is that it was pay day and it is getting closer to fall break.

I’m now a freshman, growing up and doing things I never thought I would do. My life is beginning to get on the right track. Life has mostly been okay it’s always bumpy for everyone. Last year was the hardest year I’v gone through. Eighth grade is suppose to be great. “You’re the big dog in the middle school” as my brother would say. Something happened last year that that made me myself today.

I have been busy with the Julia Robinson Mathematics Festival. We hired a Director of Development and we are putting together a proposal for fundraising. We also just hired a creative director, who is planning to help us with projects and help us manage them. I am now working with the creative director at Gathering 4 Gardner, the organizing for which I am the chair. We are about to publish some books. So I have been reviewing the manuscripts, among other things. My life is always very busy. Fortunately, I find almost all the things that I do fulfilling.
