Accountability….What does it mean? Well this past month e lost two soldiers who are a part of our unit and voice of our unit pass away. Accountability is important and should not be taken lightly… A soldier lost his life a couple weeks ago, due to lack of accountability, and it hurt a lot of people. For so many reasons accountability is important, for example. Knowing where your soldiers are at all times helps to know what they’re doing, and what their interest are doing so. In case something happens and someone needs t know where a soldier is accountability comes into play. Army Regulation 600-20 IAW Discipline. Why is discipline so important? And really expects a lot from us, and a lot of soldiers keep messing up doing things that shouldn’t be done… That’s why… again verbal accountability, and counseling is good to make it to the last formation so that you can get a safety briefing from your 1sg sergeant, company commander, squad leader or battalion commander. If you do something wrong after getting a safety briefing it’s no one fault but yours again. Because of Regulation 600-2 0 discipline you were told not to do something wrong and did it anyway, then appropriate actions must be taken. For example. 4856 counseling, also 600-8-2 which covers suspension of favorable personnel actions, better known as flags. While there is no direct regulation that covers formations there is the manual for Courts martial and AR 630-10. The Army regulation for applying the MCM is AR 27-10. It is considered the same as AWOL, as AWOL is actually a serious offense, just rarely prosecuted as such. The following article in the MCM covers these first three paragraphs in particular article 86- Absence without leave. So you can see that in reality, when all you get for being late is a chewing out, or extra duty, or maybe even an article 15, they could court martial you. Make formation, as simple as that.
