What is Acne and how can we Prevent it in Adolescence? Acne is a common disease that it’s believed a normal part of growing from kid to an adult. Different surveys have shown that 8 in 10 pre kid and teens have acne and many adult have facing the same problem. 17 million people in USA have acne (www.kidhealth.com). Acne is a skin bumps (pimples) they include whiteheads, blackheads, red bumps, and some bumps that are filled with pus too. Effects of Untreated Acne What causes the acne come in adolescence? 1. Infection 2. Overly-long bangs 3. Poor body image 4. Low self-esteem 5. Low social status 6. Poor school attendance 7. Hair follicles or pores= it is covered by the tiny holes and called sebaceous 8. The main cause to get acne in kid is the hormone changes that come with the puberty (teen). This is the natural process when the kid grows up and body starts to develop, these types of hormones promote the sebaceous glands to make more sebum. After that the glands can become overactive. And one more important thing is it is a transformed disease, when parent had acne as a teen it’s likely that a kid will too.
