Introduction

An action research is any systematic inquiry conducted by teacher researchers, principals, school counselors, or other stakeholders in the teaching/learning environment, to gather information about the ways that their particular schools operate, how they teacher, and how well their students learn. This information is gathered with the goals of gaining insight, developing reflective practice, effective positive changes in the school environment and other educational practices in general, and improving student outcomes and the lives of those involved. Upon completing this research the researcher hope to implement journal writing to first form students to developed or further enhance their reading and writing skills in order for them to fulfill their role or become better member of society. Also this research will benefit both the teachers and students where the teacher will now have an alternative as to how to get students to expand their writing skills and students will find creativity and exciting ways to express themselves and also learn at the same time.

Literature Review
The National act of 1991 define literacy as an individual’s ability to read, write, and speak in English, and compute and solve problems at levels of proficiency necessary to function on the job and in society, to achieve one’s goal, and develop one’s knowledge and potential. (Public Law 107-73, sec. 3, n.p.). This question is asked by many when a problem like this occurs what can be done? If we are committed to applying best practices supported by reading research a lot can be done.
