Volcan, named after the Vulcan god of Greek mythology, is a geological structure by which magma emerges in the form of lava, volcanic ash and gases from the interior of the earth. When the magma rises there is an episode of violent activity called eruption, which can vary in intensity.
The duration and frequency ranges from mild lava flows to extremely destructive exposures. Volcanoes are mountain shaped with a crater on top. Volcanoes not only exist on Earth, but also on the sea, other planets and satellites. Almost always the volcanoes are formed in the limits of the tectonic plates. Next I present you where we can find some of the volcanoes that are currently active.
Chile is one of the countries with the most active volcanoes. The Calbuco

Helena is famous for its devastating eruption of 1980 where 87 people died. It is estimated that there are about 130 active volcanoes in this country. In addition, Santa Helena is located in Hawaii, the Kilauea volcano, the most active volcano on the island and one of the most active in the world that has been vibrating since 1993.
Japan, Mount Ontake, is the second highest. In Japan there are a large number of active volcanoes. These include Mount Fuji, which is expected to erupt in a very short time. I can mention the Sakurajima, located in Kagoshima, south of the island of Kyushu. Due to the activity of this volcano the authorities have alerted the population to stay away from it.
Russia, most of the active volcanoes are located on the peninsula of Kamtchatka, Siberia. One of them Shiveluch, characterized by the violence of its eruptions. Volcano Plosky Tolbachik, which had been dormant since 1976, came on stream in 2012.
The subject of the volcanoes attracts me, since they are natural phenomena that can not be predicted. We are currently studying this topic in science class and I really like it. Volcanoes are dangerous but can be predicted, since before they start their eruption they have a series of characteristics that can alert
The location of the volcano is also important. If it is situated on a constructive plate boundary then it is generally less explosive, and therefore poses different threats to volcanoes situated on a destructive plate boundary. The volcano may also be situated on a hotspot like in Hawaii, where the eruptions aren’t very explosive. Volcanos which aren’t explosive can pose other threats to lava flows though, such as dangerous gases being released. Like in Lake Nyos, Cameroon where 1700 people died.
Of the volcanoes that are located in the United States there are two which are world renowned for their activity and their power to change the region surrounding them. The two volcanoes would be Mount Saint Helens and Mount Kilauea. In order to get a better understanding of these volcanoes we will be comparing and contrasting them as well as talking about how they were formed and when they last had an eruption.
Many people go to Hawaii for a nice relaxing vacation, not knowing they’re right next to one of the five most active volcanos in the world,Kilauea. Kilauea had killed over 400 people in a single eruption. Kilauea is formed on a hotspot,or a place of significant activity or danger, this is one of the reasons Kilauea is so active. Kilauea has had many small eruptions, but the last large eruption lasted 30 years and was from 1983 to 2013. Kilauea may seem like any other regular volcano but it is much more dangerous.
On the island of Hawaii, above the tall mountains in the Pacific Ocean is the shield volcano, Mauna Loa. The year of 1832, the Mauna Loa erupted many times, also in the year of 1843 Mauna Loa erupted many times for
Mauna Loa, located in Hawaii, is the largest active volcano is the world. Mauna Loa is a shield volcano, comparable to many of Earth’s other large volcanoes. According to Caitlin Kelly with USA Today, “Shield volcanoes are formed by many lava flows that build up and create long, gentle slopes, rather than a steep-sided mountain.” Shield volcanoes emit low viscosity lava, which means the lava flows easily. This creates an enormous landform with a wide base. Mauna Loa makes up 50% of the Big Island of Hawaii, with an area of 2,035 square miles. In Hawaiian, Mauna Loa means “Long Mountain.” Data from the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory shows that Mauna Loa rises approximately 13,680 feet above sea level, and 16,400 feet below. Furthermore,
Hawaii experiences volcanic activity all the time from its hot spot volcanoes. Although it is part of the USA, it is still relatively poor but it benefits enormously from the volcano tourism it attracts to the islands. Thousands of people arrive every year to see the volcanic activity from a distance. Although there is still a hazardous risk from the volcano, the people benefit more from it than not.
There is an assortment of geologic activity at Yellowstone and Hawaii. At Yellowstone there are 1,000-3,000 earthquakes per year at Yellowstone. There are also over 10,000 thermal features found in Yellowstone (Volcano Questions & Answers). In Hawaii Mauna Loa and Kilauea are regarded as active volcanoes. Mauna Loa last erupted in 1984 and scientist predict this volcano will erupt again in the future. Kilauea is the world most active volcano and has been continuously erupting since 1983
The transcontinental railroad system would come to be a huge network of railroads laid out across the North American continent, most famously known for connecting the eastern part of the U.S. railroads with the Pacific west coast area. The greater transcontinental railroad itself consists of several railroads projects, the first of which were the Union Pacific and Central Pacific Railroads, and later, the Northern Pacific, Santa Fe, Great Northern, Texas and Pacific, and Western Pacific projects would follow suite. All of were approved for construction shortly after the Civil War. Prior to the war there was some skepticism towards the railway system.
Volcanoes can be found throughout the entire world and are formed when there is a rupture in the mantle of the Earth's crust. This effect allows the output of volcanic lava, ash, and various types of gases. These tectonic plate breaks are normal, the planet Earth is divided into 17 tectonic plates and consistently move against each other forming shifts from low to high intensity. It can cause displacement of earth or water.
For decades there have been an abundance amount of gang activity going on around the world and it continues to grow. Every year there is an increasing amount of teenagers over 600,000 that are rushed to the emergency rooms and taken into hospital care due to gang related injuries (Forster, Grigsby, Unger & Sussman, 2015). Most of these children are very young and have not even enter high school, and others have not even completed middle school. Many of the teens that have been rushed to the hospital have also been involved in some sort of a serious violent gang related activity themselves, and by the age of 17, they would have already been in a physical fight, or would have already been initiated into a gang. In most cases when being initiated into a gang the member awaiting to be apart of a gang must commit some sort of crime, such as theft of a vehicle, or robbery.
They can range from tens of meters to hundreds and will usually be created over shorter periods of time than other volcanoes
Ash plumes and steam rose into the bright blue sky as the underground earthquake shook the land and rattled windows all across the eighteen mile town. As the jet circled the island, in view of lovely beaches and emerald water, looming over this lush paradise was the screaming volcano. Volcanos erupt when the pressure inside of them becomes so great that the magma surges up and forces its way out. An exploding volcano can rip apart a mountain in just seconds, when the eruption is over, a landscape is changed forever. The united states is home to more volcanos than any other country except Indonesia, and Japan. The majority of these volcanoes are in Alaska. Until recently, there was no way to predict when a volcano would blow, although volcanoes give off many warning signs before they erupt. Including smaller earthquakes beneath the volcano, slight inflation, or swelling. The rising magma eventually causes the solid rock to break, sending earthquake signals. Most volcanoes give warning signs beginning weeks or months before they blow (Lindop).
Kilauea is one of the most active volcanoes on Earth, and it is the youngest. Kilauea stands just under 4,200 feet tall above sea level at its highest point.
This is only a general overview of the inner workings of volcanoes and their eruptions. For more infomation, visit Volcano World -- The Premier Source of Volcano Info on the Web.
Ms. Frizzle is a teacher at NorthWest Middle School. She has become friends with lots of teachers and has connected with many of them through social media. However, recently one of her students sent her a friend request. Soon she had received several friend request from multiple students in her classes. Ms. Frizzle should connect with her students on social media because she can get to know them better, help them, and notify them about certain things.
